  3. Opening some programs takes too long to trigger UAC prompt

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

The issues you're experiencing, including the delay before the User Account Control (UAC) prompt appears and the slow loading times in games, suggest there might be underlying problems not directly related to hardware failures (given your recent replacements) but possibly to software or configuration issues. Here are several steps and checks you can perform to potentially resolve these problems:

    Check for Malware

    • Run a thorough scan of your system using your antivirus software. Ensure no malware is causing these delays.
    Update Windows and Drivers

    • Ensure your Windows 11 and all drivers (especially for the SSD, GPU, and motherboard/chipset) are up to date. AMD drivers, including Ryzen and Radeon, can significantly impact system performance when outdated.
    Optimize SSD Settings

    • Verify that your SSD has sufficient free space (at least 15-20% free) and that its firmware is updated.
    • Ensure TRIM is enabled for your SSD by running

      fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify

in Command Prompt (admin). It should return

      DisableDeleteNotify = 0
    • Check the SSD's health using tools like CrystalDiskInfo.
    Adjust Windows Power Plan

    • Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options and select High performance or AMD Ryzen High Performance (if available). This can help ensure your CPU and storage are running optimally.
    Disable Unnecessary Startup Programs

    • Use Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) to disable programs that automatically start with Windows but are not necessary. This can reduce system load during startup and potentially improve overall performance. Perform a clean boot.

Disclaimer: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background service is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by step so that it will help you get back on track.
    Check for System File Corruption

    • It seems you've already run

      sfc /scannow

and the DISM commands, which is great. Ensure there were no errors reported or, if there were, that they were successfully repaired.
    Monitor System Resources

    • Use Task Manager or Resource Monitor to check for any processes that are using excessive CPU, memory, or disk resources, especially during the issues you're experiencing.
    Check Event Viewer

    • Look into the Event Viewer for any warnings or errors around the times you notice these delays or performance issues. This can sometimes point to the source of the problem.
    Consider System Configuration Issues

    • With a Ryzen 5600G and RX 6600 configuration, ensure your BIOS is up to date and that you're not experiencing any incompatibility issues between components.

Disclaimer: Microsoft provides no assurances and/or warranties, implied or otherwise, and is not responsible for the information you receive from the third-party linked sites or any support related to technology.

If you are going to modify BIOS Settings, please back up all your personal files first to ensure you do not lose data.
    Memory Test

    • Run Windows Memory Diagnostic or apps like MemTest86 to check for any issues with your RAM. Faulty or incompatible RAM can cause a variety of performance issues.
    Check Game Settings and Updates

    • For game-specific issues, ensure the games are updated and that their settings are optimized for your hardware. Sometimes, specific in-game settings can cause performance problems.
    Fresh Windows Installation

    • If all else fails, consider backing up your data and performing a clean installation of Windows. This can often resolve persistent issues caused by software conflicts or corrupt system files.

Disclaimer: At this point, we have exhausted all troubleshooting and I recommend that we try to perform a clean install to get your computer back into a working condition. Please ensure that you backup any important data, including Documents, Pictures, Videos, and more.
Given the variety of potential issues, it may take some time to pinpoint the exact cause. Start with the steps most relevant to your symptoms and proceed from there.

Please feel free to let me know how it goes.

    Best regards

Opening some programs takes too long to trigger UAC prompt

Malware triggers continuous UAC prompts, making the computer unusable until permission is granted

I was looking at malware that attempts to execute itself as the Administrator, which triggers a UAC prompt. If you select 'No' or try to exit out, another UAC prompt for the same action is displayed. This happens continuously until the user grants the
malware permission to run with elevated privileges.

It'd be awesome if there were a maximum number of UAC attempts that could be made by a malicious program, or at least a maximum in some time period. As it's currently implemented, the user is essentially forced to click 'Yes', since the computer is unusable
until then (the UAC prompts take up the whole screen). Are there any plans to implement functionality that will prevent this type of thing from occurring?

Here is a video of this happening:
