Openvpn gets bypassed by windows 10? Security risk?

I've encountered a strange phenomena while testing openvpn on windows 10.
I have tested both a client from my vpn provider, and the openvpn software.

According to ipleak.net, everything is working correct, I got my vpn IP number.

But! I left it connected to the vpn, and a few hours later, I needed a file from the computer (to my phone).
So I did what I usually do, connect to the SFTP server and downloaded it.
Here I should mention that I'm 15 miles (150km) from the computer, so it wasn't a local connection
So I connected and download the file, then I suddenly realise that I shouldn't been enabled to make the connection, since my phone called out my non-vpn IP address, not my current vpn IP.

I connected to my vnc and checked everything, and the SFTP server had been receiving it's ordinary connections, even thou it was connected to the vpn.

So if windows 10 let's the "original" IP connect to the computer, how can we be sure that the vpn really works?

    Do I make any sense?

On windows 7 you needed to connect to the VPN address, there was it impossible to connect to the "real' IP..

This maybe not be a "question", but I'm curious if this is a local phenomena or others have detected this issue..

    :)

Is windsows 7 a security risk?

There is 2 security risks. No one can stop security holes even more so with MS software as it would be more targeted although Linux has got to be going up on that list to now.

    1. Your comp being online
    2. The user

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community forum.

    • Were there any changes made on the PC prior to this issue?

I suggest you to follow the troubleshooting steps listed in
troubleshoot Windows 10 hangs or freezes and check
    if it works.

Note: Article holds good for Windows 10.

You may also place the PC on a
    clean boot state
and check if it works fine. Reset the computer to start normally after troubleshooting. Refer

    clean boot state
    for the same.

    Note:

A ‘Clean boot’ starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program.

Your computer may temporarily lose some functionality while in a clean boot environment, however that functionality will return when you
reset the computer to start normally after you have finished your troubleshooting.

If the issue persists, get in touch with the
    OpenVPN support for further help.

    Regards,

Openvpn gets bypassed by windows 10? Security risk?

Broken security by bypassing lock screen on restart

    Question:

Why does Windows bypass the lock screen when it restarts after a Windows update? I consider this a security design flaw. If a maintenance crew came by my home while I'm at work to do some home renovation upgrades but they left the
front door unlocked when they finished, when I got home I'd wonder what on Earth they were thinking. I hope I've just missed a setting somewhere to disable this.

    Three things I accept:

    1. Locking my computer to protect my privacy.

    2. Windows restarting after an update.

    3. Windows automatically updating, which is frustrating but acceptable.

But I don't accept Windows bypassing the lock screen after an update.

    Precondition:

Windows 10 is set up to require a password at sign in, both on startup and on the lock screen.

    Steps to reproduce:

    Step 1: Lock the computer.

    Step 2: Leave the room.

Step 3: Wait for Windows to perform an automatic system update.

    Step 4: Windows restarts automatically.

Problem 1: Windows bypasses the lock screen, instead signing in and showing the desktop.

Problem 2: Come home and book a doctor's appointment to deal with the stress of seeing my computer unlocked.

It's my first post in the community so suggestions about posting etiquette are welcome.
