    Optical drive disappears in Windows


    My LG Bluray-Burner (internal) has been disappearing for the second time. It appears under hidden items in Device Manager (under Properties, it is claimed that the drive is disconnected), but not as a drive letter.

    Last time I fixed it by deleting upper and lower filters. These still seem to be inexistent at the pertinent registry locations.

    So what's next to check?

    My optical drive keeps disappearing from Windows 10!

    Upgraded to Windows 10 two weeks ago, and it won't recognize my optical drive, or does so temporarily. I tried updating the registry running the script all the message boards are saying to run, and I also got rid of the upper and lower limit values in the
    key that they said to edit...neither of those worked.

    The only thing that has worked is going into device manager (I have to select View Hidden Devices to get the optical drive to show) and then opting to uninstall the drive. Then I restart, and Windows finds the drive on rebooting. I can use it just fine...for
    anywhere from 1 to 30 minutes. Then it disappears again until I uninstall and reboot again.

    It's driving me nuts, and I'm considering either reverting to Windows 7 or buying an external USB optical drive...but I shouldn't have to do either! Any suggestions?

    Windows 10 DVD Drive missing

    Why can't there just be a fix to click on for this issue. my optical drive disappears every time I need it and it's a big pain trying to figure out how to fix it every time.

    Optical drive disappears in Windows

    Hi, Blu-ray support is not native to Windows. Suggest you try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver.

    Also occasionally people find they need to check the cabling- plug/unplug..

    While playback of Blu-Ray video discs is not natively supported by Windows, the driver support for the hardware and file systems on the optical media definitely is.

    Uninstalling the drive and then rebooting, allowing auto-detection, sounds like a good generic troubleshooting move.
    Checking the cables, etc ... agree with that too.
