Windows 10: Optical Drive doesn't exist in windows

About a month ago, I got a new HDD and had to unplug my CD/DVD optical drive in order to set up the HDD. When I plugged the optical drive back in and started up the computer, the optical drive no longer appeared in file explorer. The HDD works completely fine, but the optical drive just doesn't show up anywhere. I've tried several tutorials on fixing the issue, but when I came across one, it was talking about messing with the IDE ATA/ATAPI settings in Device Manager. When I went there, IDE ATA/ATAPI wasn't listed, and I can't find any trace of it anywhere on the computer. I don't know if the t

Appreciate your detailed return. Your added steps really helped.

Assuming I did the steps correctly, this is where I am now.

Screenshot 12 shows my CD Disc shortcut on my desktop.
Screenshot 10 shows the CD Drive shortcut listed in the “Send to” listing.
Screenshot 11 shows the “Send to” listing after the steps were taken, but the CD drive name is not listed.

So, it appears the steps did not work for me. And, I did try the steps, “If it still won’t do ……” and still no luck.

What do you think?

I`m sorry I had not noticed that the text on the picture was in spanish. It says that windows has replaced some damaged clusters in "name" file and "directory". Then, at the end "an unspecified error occurred (75736e6a726e6c2e 4f6)".

I`ll do it and I`ll be updating this thread when I have the report.

Optical drive letters keep swapping

Open Disk Management (click Start, type diskmgmt.msc in the Search box, and press Enter).

1. In the lower pane, right-click on your optical drive and select "Change drive letter and paths"
2. Assign Y: to the first optical drive
