    I know what you mean and (I must admit) it's one I may quickly suggest as a quick shot to try, but usually only when the Optimize Drives console is showing SSD when it's actually HDD or vice versa. Seemed like OPs drive was showing correctly though in this case.

    Actually, I only learned about that one from everyone here so I thought that one might have basically been the fix for it.

    Yes, I had tried the winsat formal command out of desperation, but it did not work. I believe your assessment of it is correct, that it will help to correctly identify hardware if it has been misidentified. But as you say, in this case the hardware was already identified correctly; it was the driver that wasn't compatible.

    I'm glad I didn't have the problem when I upgraded from 2 x 750GB Western Digital Black Label 7200RPM 2.5" HDD's to 2x2TB Samsung 850Pro SSD's. I had Intel RST RAID 12.9 installed with 10240 but Intel RST RAID 12.9 was no longer working and even after I install, it does not show up on the system when I upgraded to 10586. I installed the SSD's during 10586.14.
