I needed a screenshot of Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc) instead, but it'll be fine to optimize if you like.

Oops! I see that it's only 98 MB. I guess it's a very small part of the "c" drive. Thanks for your help.

There's no need to optimize the "SYSTEM" partition since it's not being read or wrote to, but it won't hurt if you do. *Smile

Yeah. I defragged but it immediately reverted to 30% fragmented and then 60% upon analyze.
    Than you for your help!

Hello again Shawn mate have tried this in several different ways but noting seems to work I always get a red error message I am guessing because it might be case sensitive?? or I have included spaces in spots and not in others.
Again not adding pics mate so cannot show you what I get.

    Hello John, *Smile

You'll need to run the command in an elevated PowerShell instead.

There should be a space after "volume" in the command, and there shouldn't be a colon after the drive letter

    Optimize-Volume -DriveLetter C -Analyze -Verbose

Thank you for the tutorial, Shawn.

One question though... if I use the /B modifier to defrag boot sector, will the defrag tool reboot teh system to do this or this task will be dome with the OS loaded?

I would personally not touch the boot sector.

    Hello FerchogtX, *Smile

I agree with Nick above, and wouldn't recommend to defrag the boot sector either. Usually, you'll only want to defrag the Windows drive and any data drives.

Optimize and Defrag Drives in Windows 10

Sorry for the bump, but another question came to my mind.

In Windows 7, I used to have Tune Up Utilities 2012, and used their registry defrag to keep the registry trimmed, from time to time. No issues so far (it's a Windows 7 install from 2012, never reinstalled and working steady).

Taking in mind all the automated tasks Windows 10 has, I decided not to install Tuneup Utilities on my new laptop. But I have this doubt: I don't see problems so far by not defragging the registry, and I was wondering, Is it really nessesary? What exactly does defragging the registry does? Tuneup really defrags the registry or just "trims and cuts off unused space" as it claims it reduces the regystry size?

Thanks in advance for your answers *Biggrin

    Hello FerchogtX, *Smile

Defragging the registry is basically a method to remove wasted space in registry, and is fine to do.

Cleaning the registry is to remove what is believed to be invalid registry entries. Some software are more aggressive at this than others, and can often remove registry entries that it shouldn't causing issues. Personally, I would strongly recommend to never clean the registry for this reason. Especially since you will not notice any performance difference.
