Windows 10: Optimizing Battery Life on Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 Laptop

So I recently purchased a Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 laptop with a Ryzen 7 7840HS processor and an RTX 4060 graphics card. While the battery life is already respectable, I want to maximize it as much as possible for college to avoid carrying around an extra USB-C charger.Here are the steps I have taken so far to achieve around 7 and a half hours of battery lifeisabled CPU Boost Mode using a registry update file that added a new entry in the Power setting management.Created a replica of the "Balanced" Power Plan called "Power Saver" with Boost off and changed the maximum processor state in ad

No suggestions but want to say nice laptop. They also seem to be popular being they're currently unavailable

That said my only suggestion would be to take time to learn the laptop yourself.

dGPU not completely disconnecting on Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 8

So for the past few days, the RTX 4060 Laptop dGPU (Driver Version 532.03) on my Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 hasn't been disconnecting completely when the laptop is turned on after a complete shutdown from Hybrid-Auto mode. Furthermore, the issue persists when unplugging the AC cable when the laptop is fully powered on. Instead, it stays in "Powered Off" or "Inactive" mode, eating up an extra 10-15 W on the discharge rate. I've tried to kill apps and restart the dGPU with no success. Manage Display Mode in the NVIDIA Control Panel is set to Automatic Select Current Status: Integrated Graphics. Lenovo support has been pretty uneventful with the standard advice or reinstalling drivers, which I have done from here twice, once with DDU + NVCleanInstall, and one without, though the problem still persists. Weirdly enough, when I connect my laptop to AC, switch to Hybrid-iGPU mode, and unplug, the switch to full-iGPU is successful.

Note: On Lenovo Legion laptops
Hybrid-iGPU Only Mode: Only use integrated GPU. This mode minimizes power consumption and noise. This mode only takes effect when discrete GPU is not working.
Hybrid-Auto Mode: Use only integrated GPU when on battery and both integrated and discrete GPU when AC adapter is connected. When a non-standard adapter is connected, system switches to Hybrid-iGPU Only Mode

Something is keeping the dGPU alive, but NVIDIA reports no apps using the dGPU. What I've found after some Task Manager tinkering is that Desktop Window Manager, Client Server Runtime Process, Windows Explorer, and System, which are the same processes that I had a problem with before with high memory usage, and to fix it, I found that turning off "Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling" in Windows 11 "Graphics Settings" was what finally fixed the issue for me, but they seem to be causing problems for me again. I can also see that "System" process in task manager is waking up my Nvidia GPU once every few minutes to do a GPU 1 - Copy task that lasts a second. Any idea what might cause this?









As an extra note, I recently noticed that when I leave my laptop on sleep or hibernate for a while, like during lunch, the dGPU disconnects on its own. The laptop then switches fully to the iGPU. I haven't figured out the exact time it takes for this to happen, but it seems to occur around 20 to 30 minutes after putting the laptop into sleep or hibernate mode.

1. I'm not 100% sure when the problem appeared, It may have been after updating the Lenovo BIOS, NVIDIA/AMD drivers, Window's update or any combination of the above. The problem has mostly was a coin flip at first. Occurring somewhat randomly, but it may have been a NVIDIA driver update that's caused this. Though no amount of reverting drivers to older versions, using NVCleanInstall or Nvidia's Clean-up Tool, or using custom installation while installing the Game Ready Driver's seem to make a difference.
   
2. The problem still persists after doing a clean boot.
   
3. I have already contacted Lenovo and they have advised me to do a full reset of my laptop, which I really don't want to do considering the need to backup, redownload games, optimize etc.
