    Optiplex 7010 Upgrade win7 to win10 failed

Looking for some advice. As stated, I'm trying to upgrade a Dell Optiplex 7010 from Win7 to Win10 and keep getting a failed install due to 0xC1900101-0x30017 "the installation failed in the first_boot phase with an error during boot operation". Normally I would do a clean install but this is a company PC and I'm not sure how I'd get back all the software, i.e MS Office, that was included with the PC. I still have the "Recovery Partition" which, if used, would get back my apps, but take me back to Win7. If I have to do a clean install how to recovery the MS Office apps?

    Thank in advance.

Ps. Of course I've also backed up all with Aomei Backupper.

    :)

BSOD driver corrupted expool bugcheck 0xc5

Recently we updated a few PCs from win7 pro to win10 pro via LTI. Since then, we get a blue screen very often (almost once a day), typically after an automatic restart early in the morning ~4am. Sometimes we get a DMP file, sometimes we dont. Here's an extract
of the dump file .... Any idea how to fix this?

Here's the DMP file Microsoft OneDrive - Access files anywhere. Create docs with free Office Online.

    It's a Dell optiplex 7010

    Hi hooutoo.

Here is an article on the upgrade process. While your specific code 0x30017 is not listed there is a section on 0xC1900101. Most of the fixes in the series talk to drivers and connected equipment. Have a look.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/win...dy_UpgradeTips

Update your drivers where possible, disconnect gear that is not need for upgrade. make sure Windows updates are up to date.

Ken... wanted to say thanks for the reply. Still no luck but will try again tonight when I get home. I noticed the firmware on my box was way out of date so will do a bios upgrade tonight and see what happens.

  6. I would also check the drivers listed on the site. Lots are listed and while it will take a little time the information listed on the site is quite detailed.

You are accepting to option to download updates as part of installation.

Can you find the logs Setupact.log and Setuperr.log and $Windows.~bt\Sources\Rollback\setupapi\setupapi.dev.log mentioned in the article.

Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    1) sfc /scannow
    2) chkdsk /scan
    3) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

Place the computer into clean boot while in administrative command prompt:

    4) msconfig (in the pop up system configuration > move the dot from normal startup to selective startup > uncheck load startup items > click service tab > in left lower corner check hide all Microsoft services > in the lower right side click disable all > click apply or ok > do not reboot)

    5) taskmgr (in the pop up task manager > click on the start up tab > click on status so that the column sorts with enable rising to the top > right click on each row with enable and change to disable)

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...oot-in-windows
How to perform a Clean Boot in Windows 10 - TechNet Articles - United States (English) - TechNet Wiki

    6) shutdown /r (you will reboot the computer so that it is in clean boot)

See if this step fixes the failed upgrade:

    replace: C:\Windows10Upgrade\wimgapi.dll
    with: C:\Windows\System32\wimgapi.dll

    1) open file explorer
    2) open system32 folder
    3) find wimgapi.dll file
    4) copy it with control c
    5) find windows10upgrade folder
    6) open it and paste the wimgapi.dll file into the folder
    7) when prompted to replace > yes
    8) close all folders
    9) use upgrade assistant or windows 10 iso to upgrade
    10) report results into the thread

    Also before the upgrade:
    1) disconnect all peripheral devices from the computer except
    wired mouse
    wired keyboard
    monitor
(remove headset, speakers, printers, docking station, xbox, etc.)
    2) uninstall all non-Microsoft AV/firewall products (always on and manual) and use only Windows defender

The displayed result in post #6 did not have chkdsk /scan

    1) Please open administrative command prompt and copy and paste: chkdsk /scan
    2) When it has completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

Scan is an invalid option for Chkdsk in windows 7. Also it seems that your document assumes I'm on Win8 I believe.

    1) Download and install everything:
    voidtools

  14. How much free space do you have on drive. I think for 64 bit update you need 20GBs. Your error log has this a one error.
