  1. Orchestrated Nightmares: PC Wakes at night and I can't edit anything in UpdateOrchestrator

    Hey guys,

I'm running Windows 10 Pro (1909). I've disabled wake timers on my power settings, but when I ran a command I found out that it was "UpdateOrchestrator" that was waking my PC at night, specifically "Backup Scan" and "Reboot". However, when I go to the Task Scheduler (as administrator) I don't have permissions to disable the checkbox "wake the computer to perform this task", or any permissions at all, in fact. It gives me a password form that it won't let me go through, giving me some lengthy error code ("2147943004"). I have tried taking ownership of the file in Windows Explorer, and of the folder too, but the error prevails no matter what I do.

Some people have said that under the current versions of Win10 you can't disable this, and you just have to unplug your PC from the wall every night, or when you go out of the house. But come on, that can't be the case. My PC is waking me up and there's not even a mandatory windows update it wants to install. There must be a fix for this somewhere.

  2. Update Orchestrator keeps waking pc

So in the middle of the night my pc decided that it was time to wake up and install some updates. My pc is half a meter from my head and filled with loud fans and RGB, so of course I woke up immediately... How can I stop Windows Updates from waking up my
pc? I regularly (but not always) put my pc in hibernate, instead of shutting it down. I've unchecked every option to 'wake the computer to run this task' in the menu UpdateOrchestrator, but that still doesn't help... And if I check event logger, I read that NT
TASK\Microsoft\Windows\UpdateOrchestrator\Universal Orchestrator Start has started the pc.

Is there an option somewhere to keep this from happening?

Updates are paused but Update Orchestrator keeps waking PC.

I normally do updates every few days but so it does not inconvenience me I do them then set them to be paused so the PC which is in my bedroom does not wake me at night. For the past few days even though its paused Update Orchestrator is waking my pc, but why? Should it not be disabled when Updates are Paused? I'm on 1903 for reference.

Here is my Powercfg -lastwake report:

Owner: [SERVICE] \Device\HarddiskVolume4\Windows\System32\svchost.exe (SystemEventsBroker) Owner Supplied Reason: Windows will execute 'NT TASK\Microsoft\Windows\UpdateOrchestrator\Universal Orchestrator Start' scheduled task that requested waking the computer.

I know you can murder the task and take system privileges from it to make you have to force it do updates but I only have my laptop doing that as if this happens to it in a bag that can be a very bad thing and used to happen till pausing was a thing.

Any steps I should take to fix this, for now I have changed my active hours to more when I will be on it at least.
