Windows 10: Original User account is broken, how to fix from User 2?

Hi there people! I had this issue for maybe 2 years now. The cmd in my original account stopped working, it was opening and closing immediately and I tried 10+ fixes, none of it worked. So I've been using my PC without cmd for 2 years. I finally needed it so much that I had to try fixing this issue again. I tried repairing Windows 10 from an ISO with keeping my settings and files, it didn't work. Then I saw a random forum post that told me to delete a registry key in regedit and that fixed it, it was something like Auto something something and I deleted it. cmd was working again. Problem with user accounts.

I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: Initially, I suggest you to run the Microsoft account troubleshooter.

Step 2:

Now try to switch from Microsoft account to Local account and check.

Refer to these steps to convert Microsoft account into Local User account:

  Click on Windows button, then click on

  Click on Accounts then click on
  Your account.

  Click on Sign in with a local account instead.
  
• 
  Following the Online instructions.

Lost User Account

I understand the inconvenience you are facing with user accounts, we will help you to resolve this issue.



I would like to inform that there can be only one Microsoft user account on one device, and that might be the reason you are unable to change the email address for the user account.



I suggest you to create a new account (Local account) on your computer and transfer the content to newly created user account.



Step 1: Creating a new user account

• Type cmd in the Search bar form the desktop.
• Now, Right-click on cmd.exe from the result and select Run As Administrator.
  
• User Account Control or UAC dialog box will appear, click on Yes.
  
• Type net user username password /add
  
  [Replace ‘username’ and ‘password’ with your desired username and password]
  

Step 2. Copying old files to newly created User Profile

• Go to C:\Users\(Your-Corrupted-Profile-Name)\ (L: file:///C:/Users/(Your-Corrupted-Profile-Name)/)
  
• Copy all files except three files:

• 
  NtUser.dat
  
• 
  NtUser.ini
  
• 
  NtUser.log
  

3. Go to C:\Users\(New-User-Profile-name)\ (L: file:///C:/Users/(New-User-Profile-name)/)

4. Paste all those copied files here.

Current active users that are friends

The other reason I suggested this is that users can add characters to their username that are not alphanumeric (e.g. user*). This confuses things somewhat when looking at the list.
