Windows 10: Other User on startup screen?

I also have a phantom 'Other User" account on the logon screen that the system defaults to. I have Windows 10 version 1903 (OS build 18362.356) running on an HP Streambook (designed for Windows 10, not Chrome OS). After the last Windows update the phantom "Other User" account popped up on the logon screen, and I have to fail the logon before I can get to my actual logon prompt. I have tried all the solutions listed on this thread (Other User on startup screen? - I hope) and nothing works - only my Microsoft account is listed in Accounts and none of the other solutions worked (safe mode, switch accounts, NETPLWIZ, etc). Any further solutions? I would prefer not to have to start from scratch again but will if I absolutely must as the only way to solve this problem.

I suggest you to follow the step provided below to switch user.

• 
  Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete key.
  
• 
  Click on Switch User.
  
• 
  And select your user account.
  

Follow the steps provided below to remove Microsoft account.

• 
  Press Windows + I key.
  
• 
  Click on Accounts.
  
• 
  In your accounts, at the bottom click on the account you want to remove.
  
• 
  Then click on Remove button.

Startup user is not in user list


At startup Win 10 quickly goes to a user and says "The user name or password is incorrect. Try again". I click OK and then select the proper user from a list on the left of the screen, then click "Sign In" and everything is fine. That first user is not in my list of users. How do I stop that first user (non-user) from showing up at startup and, instead, startup with the desired user?
