Our company software is being wrongly detected as malware again this year. It was cleared...

Last year our software got wrongly flagged as malware but later cleared. We got an EVCertificate and Code Signed our software. Now, a year later we are getting our installer wrongly flagged again as malware. I sent our files again to Microsoft to be removed from their detections lists. But so far the analyst says it IS malware .. which is not. We have been 20 years in the business of providing a desktop aplication software as a service.

    :)

  3. Windows Defender notification of malware detection

    Hello,

Thank you for keeping us posted and we appreciate your continued patience on this issue.

At this point, I suggest you to update the Windows Defender program and check if it helps.

To check for new Windows Defender definitions manually:

    • Open Windows Defender.
    • Click the arrow next to the Help button, and then click Check for updates. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Also, check if the detection is of the same malware file or not. Again, see if it is any specific program or a file you try to access which triggers the detection.

Additionally, view the log in Event Viewer to check if the malware is removed every time it is prompted.

To open the Event Viewer. To do so, follow the below steps.
    • Go to the Control Panel and choose to click on the
      Administrative Tools icon.
    • The above action will open up a new window of the Administrative Tools where you will see the
      Event Viewer.
You can view Windows Defender "Operational" events in Event Viewer under Applications and Services Logs -> Microsoft -> Windows -> Windows Defender.

Kindly keep us posted, for us to be able to assist you further.

    Thank you.

    malware detected

I’m not sure what the “META” alert indicates.
Let’s see if resolving the malware detection will fix it.

The malware detection may be in a browser. Any new browser extensions that need to be disabled?

Any new programs/apps just installed that might contain adware?

Empty temporary internet files, restart the computer, manually update WD and run a Quick Scan.

Anything new in Startup that needs to be disabled?

If the malware detections continue suggest you try the following free independent scanners:

    AdwCleaner: AdwCleaner

Emsisoft Emergency Kit: Как обнаружить и удалить угрозы с помощью Emsisoft Emergency Kit

Other scanners that may help are listed at List
    of Malware Removal Tools

If the issue continues open Defender, look in All Detected Items and copy the name of the malware and complete file path and tell us about the malware.

You may also want to submit a copy of the file to VirusTotal for analysis:

Please post back in this thread if the malware issue continues.
