Just received email from Microsoft informing me "In the next few weeks we’ll be making some updates that will impact your @outlook.com, @Hotmail, @Live or @msn email account. Those changes will prevent your email from getting delivered to the Outlook desktop application that you use. When you notice that you stop receiving messages, simply follow these two steps:"

Re-add your email account to your Outlook 2010 desktop application

  2. Unable to sync calenders

using a WP8 phone, outlook 2010 (32 bit) and I do have an outlook.com account with 2 calenders.

I have installed and repaired 3x outlook connector but cannot get it to work. I verified that I only used the 32 bit version for outlook 2010. When I follow the instructions and click 'copy' on the primary desktop outlook calender, and tell it to 'copy'
to my outlook.com calender, it creates a new calender called 'calender1' that does not show up on my outlook.com account. When I tell it to 'copy' to my calender on my outlook.com account calender (the one that shows my outlook.com email) it says it cannot
creat folders on a web based application.

I used to use gmail, but want to get away from that, especially since someone tried to hack into it. don't want my calender there anymore, so removed that account from outlook 2010. Now want to use outlook.com but having serious issues. Its important that
the desktop outlook is the primary, with all updates and changes coming from outlook 2010 into my outlook.com calender, not the other way around.

    Any recommendations?

No this is not to do with the desktop application outlook. This is to do with the web hosted email solution outlook.com

Outlook 2010 desktop application email service Outlook.com

Yes, I received the same for all my outlook.com accounts - interesting that they have not included outlook 2013 or 2016 in the list. I was searching to see what others have found - and came across your post

I'll probably chat online with MS

Had a chat online, its a valid email , due to outlook.com migration to outlook preview, it only effects legacy apps - hence why outlook 2013 & 16 are not mentioned as they should be OK

WLM will also be affected , as far as i could understand , All Legacy Applications will be affected
But Win Mail app 10 will be OK

Not sure about other apps , iphone etc

Reassuring to know that others have received the same email and especially you, etaf, who has taken the trouble to contact Microsoft for confirmation. One never knows when an email is genuine even if the email header confirms it was sent from Microsoft servers. Thank you.

Yes, and with links in the email to unknown malicious websites - so i'm always cautious as i can be , seen too many people getting virus and malware that way - Also i know someone who had a PDF CV sent to them for a job application , and they were advertising for someone get the cryptovirus

My son has not recieved the mail and on other tech forums , I moderate people have not seen the email - so it maybe a targeted approach only

What desktop application are you using - Outlook 2010
    I'm using
Outlook 2013 , Thunderbird and WLM on a test PC

I got this email too. Quite interesing.

    I have 1x Outlook.com
    1x hotmail.co.uk
    1x gmail.com
    1x privately hosted email

It's always the outlook.com and Hotmail that are slow, laggy and generally unsatisfactory when using an external cleint like Outlook or emClient. The other services are just fine.

I hope and pray that the changes they are making will sort out the terrible performance issues of some (if not all) of the microsoft outlook.com/Hotmail/Live mail servers when trying to connect. The lagginess is infuriating. I work in IT support and for a number of my customers using outlook.com or Live.co.uk or Hotmail.com email addresses together with trying to sync then to a desktop mail program (like emClient and Outlook proper) this laginess and general slowness of the mail servers has caused them to move away to Gmail or another service.

Come on Microsoft - sort your mail service out for goodness sake!!!!

I'm using Outlook 2010 for 2 x Hotmail and 2 x Live accounts. All these accounts received the said email. I haven't had many issues with Outlook 2010 and get very few junk mail but as you say one has to be very careful today with thousand of malware appearing on the net every day! I only use another email account which I directly on the web page.

Hello, In the next few weeks we’ll be making some updates that will impact your @outlook.com, @hotmail, @live or @msn email account. Those changes will prevent your email from getting delivered to the Outlook desktop application that you use. When you notice that you stop receiving messages, simply follow these two steps: For Outlook 2003 customers: 1. Remove your email account from your Outlook 2003 desktop application 2. Re-add your email account to your Outlook 2003 desktop application For Outlook 2007 customers: 1. Remove your email account from your Outlook 2007 desktop application 2. Re-add your email account to your Outlook 2007 desktop application For Outlook 2010 customers: 1. Remove your email account from your Outlook 2010 desktop application 2. Re-add your email account to your Outlook 2010 desktop application When the update happens, you may not be able to refer back to this email in your Outlook desktop application. We recommend bookmarking or saving the two links (remove and re-add) in steps 1 and 2 above that apply to the version of Outlook that you’re using. Remember, you can always access this message by logging in to your account at www.outlook.com at any time.
