    Outlook 2016 cannot delete an incomplete mail account (pst) data file


    Installed MS Office 2016. In setting up an email account in Outlook, I somehow left off the .com part of my email address but never the less, it appears as one of the email accounts on the screen. It does not appear under my account settings but I can see an entry under the data files tab. I can select it, then attempt "remove" and get this error msg. Its location is on one drive which cannot also be removed. It says it is being copied ?? It has been doing (it) for 12 hours now. *Sleepy

    Setting the hotmail account as default doesnt set its calendar as outlook's default. It requires to set the hotmail account's data file as default. Now when I do that I get the following error. On OK it doesnt do anything.

    The selected Outlook data file (.pst) format cannot be used. Outlook data files (.pst) must use the same format as offline Outlook data files (.ost). Select a matching Outlook data file (.pst) or turn off cache mode in the Account Settings.

    outlook 2003 won't open in Windows 10/ can't get old contacts, archives and saved emails/ can't find .pst files on computer

    Uninstalling Outlook will not delete the .PST data file stored in the App Data folder.

    Upgrading to Office 365 will migrate your Outlook data to Outlook 2016 and you should be able to access your emails and contacts.
