Windows 10: Outlook 2019 problems with some recent windows builds

Hi folks

seem to be getting some random outlook 2019 problems with some recent Windows builds (insider releases)

Mail randomly sits in Outbox and doesn't get sent on some accounts but not others. I know it's not the mail server as I can also use a web application roundcoube which doesn't have problems sending or receiving from those accounts that outlook seems to have problems with. No problem with INBOUND emails.

Is this again Windows security getting its (and everybody else's knickers in a twist).

This happens on email accounts that need proper manual set up (you can't use the "simplified" outlook screens you ned to start the manual setup from the control panel app or start manually (outlook.exe /profile)





(english equivalent --this is the test screen after setting up / changing the accounts via manual process).

Grrrrhhhh !!!

Thunderbird works OK but IMO it's a pain compared with OUTLOOK 2019.

Office 2019

Only supported on Win10. Sorry, 8.1 users, only 4 years old, gotta go.

How to install outlook express on windows xp with explorer 8?

This is an awkward problem to solve and one I don't think is worth the time and effort.

The OP would be better off either using a modern webmail service like gmail or outlook.com or using a modern email client like Windows Live Mail like FX-GMC suggested or Thunderbird from Mozilla. If nothing else, Outlook Distress was notorious for corrupting its data files and losing all your email in one easy step. Not worth it.

 

Outlook 2016 problems

As suggested by Appleoddity, the first step is to disable all your add-ins to determine whether the issue is caused by a problematic add-in.

If issue still continues when all add-ins are disabled, then you can try renaming the following \Outlook registry key to \Outlook-1 when Outlook is closed:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook

Then, start Outlook and create your new profile to test it. When you start Outlook in safe mode, most of the customization settings are disabled, and these customization settings are stored in the \Outlook registry key. If it doesn't work, you can just renaming the newly generated \Outlook key to \Outlook-2, and then rename the \Outlook-1 key back to \Outlook.
