Outlook's "recent items" list for attachments is not chronological, inaccurate - Office...

It used to be that when I went to attach a file to an Outlook email, the "recent items" list would be populated with all the files I'd recently worked on, in chronological order from most recent to oldest. For some time now don't remember when this change happened that hasn't worked. The drop-down list sometimes has the most recent file I've been working on, but not always, and almost never at the top of the list. And it features files seemingly picked at random that I haven't worked on in ages. File Explorer's most recent items list, by contrast, works. And if I set up a new user profile an

  2. Strange recent items when attaching to Outlook

I often save files on my windows 10 PC, open outlook (office 365). Then I click the attach item paperclip and down drops a list of recent items. At the top of the list is always the file I have just saved. This is perhaps an excel spreadsheet or word document or a notepad file or something, it doesn't matter what it is.

Today this didn't happen. Instead the dropdown contained a list of files from my appdata folder that I definitely haven't accessed. See the picture below.

I have opened up a new windows explorer folder and expected to see the same items in Quick access but this looked normal with my most recently accessed files, as I would expect. Does anyone have any idea what would have accessed these files and should I be concerned?

  3. Incorrect Outlook attachments when using "Recent Items" list

Has anyone experienced problems when attaching files to an Outlook mail using the "Recent Items" file list?

On 1/27/16 I attached 5 Word files to an outgoing email using the "recent items" list. All of them appeared to attach correctly but when sent, the files were mixed up. For example, the filed named A had file B's content, the file named B had file A's content
and file C could not be opened and generated and error message "Word cannot open the file because the file format does not match the file extension".

    I'm using Windows 10 and Office365 Version 16.0.6366.2056.

When I replied the initial message recipient and attached the same files using the "Browse this PC" shortcut to File Explorer, the files attached and were sent correctly.
