Over-exposure in screenshots and recordings with HDR in Windows 11

Hello, I am inquiring about an issue I can't seem to solve without turning HDR off all-together, which defeats the purpose of having it even be an option in Windows 11In recordings primarily using OBS and in screenshots with snip and sketch everything appears extremely over-exposed / bright with HDR enabled. This is a big problem for me as I actually, well, want to use the OS normally. I record lots of clips and take many screenshots and I've finally gotten fed up of it and am now looking for a solution. Any help appreciated, thanksZ

    :)

Exposure control errors when recording videos with C3-00.

I noticed that when I record videos, the exposure sometimes is not adjusted properly. If lighting conditions change, exposure remains at the same level, and records became over or underexposed. This is especially noticeable outdoors.

I have a few minutes long sample recording where the recording starts normally, then as light conditions change, (I slowly move from a shady area to a lit area) exposure gradually degrades to a point where most of the recording "burns out" due to extreme
overexposure ( about 80% of the picture is white).

What confuses me is when I tried to reproduce this problem (albeit it different lighting conditions), exposure control worked pretty good.

I wonder if these exposure problems are due to a bug, hardware problem or a device limitation.

Do you have any tips to get better recordings with the phone?

  3. Screenshot functionality seems to fail when one of two screens is in HDR mode

OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Pro

    Version 10.0.17134 Build 17134

    Geforce 1050 Ti driver 418.91

    I have one screen in 1920x1080@144Hz (ASUS VG248QE) and a second screen in 3840x2160@60Hz (BenQ PD2700U, 4K).

HDR is enabled on the 4K screen.

    Problem statement:

When using the screenshot function that I've demonstrated with Snip, the image colours on the HDR screen are badly affected.

    Evidence:

The demonstration image shows a reference PNG image (Kodak Image 08) on Internet Explorer being shown on both screens. The HDR screen holds the right side of the image.

The same result is shown with other screenshot applications (e.g. Greenshot).

The issue is not present when using just the HDR screen.

    Question:

It appears that the screenshot functionality cannot handle the difference between HDR and non-HDR displays and treats the HDR pixels as non-HDR, losing colour information. I'd guess this is a bug and suggest that the screenshot methods should default to
the HDR image and translate non-HDR pixels to HDR versions.

    Image below.

    Nokia HDR video

The iPhone doesn't do HDR video - only photos.

The above was shot using two Canon SLR cameras. I don't except this to be possible with a single camera phone in quite some time. To shoot HDR video with a single camera you would put limits on the exposure time. To shoot with 30 fps the longest exposure
would be 1/60s so that would rule out low light video.
