    usb mass storage overcurrent

    sold an Asus P6T with
Core i7 and now, he who bought it, sent it back to me
    saying that don't work
I try to repair it but I can not even boot.
The machine stop with a suspicious message,
it said, usb mass storage found and configured
usb overcurrent, the machine will shutdown in 15 seconds
and I can not get it out of there

USB device over current status detected.

When starting to boot up I get this message: "USB device over current status detected. System will shut down after 15 seconds." I have disconnected everything from USB and I still get the same error message and the system still shuts down after 15 seconds.
Windows 10 Pro, Intel 6800K processor, EVGA GTX 1060 graphics card, 32GB RAM, 750W Corsair power supply, 500GB Samsung SSD, Several WD hard drives. Prior to this problem I was transferring video from this computer to a newer computer via flash drives. Nothing
is now connected to the computer by way of USB, and I still get the same error message. Any suggestions how to proceed? Thanks.

Overcurrent has been detected on your usb device. System will shutdown after 15 seconds!!

    unknown device USB

    Hi Ali,

In most cases, this issue can be caused by either an unstable/ corrupt USB controller or your computer's drivers need to be updated.

For us to isolate the possibilities, we suggest that you perform the following troubleshooting steps in succeeding order:

    • Connect your USB drive to a different port. Alternatively, try to connect it to a different PC.
    • Connect a different USB drive to your PC.
    • Unplug your USB drive and restart your system. Afterwards, plug it in and see if it works. If the same issue occurs, perform a complete shutdown and wait for a few minutes before turning it on again.
    • Update your drivers.

If you find that the USB drive still doesn't work even after performing all these suggestions, this is most likely pointing to a hardware issue. Thus, it would be best to get in touch with your device manufacturer for a thorough check of the device.

If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to post back and let us know.
