Windows 10: Overlay/Icon opens Windows Notifications. How to prevent?

I've had this icon show up on a couple of our systems recently and I'm wondering if anybody knows where it might be coming from and/or how I can prevent it from coming back. Clicking the icon opens the Notifications panel but the icon sits on top of every screen like an overlay. Suggestion to have an option to change Notification Area icon this way too.
Suggestion to finally have proper separate Options window like most (all?) Windows programs do.

 

How to prevent notifications to wake up Windows 11

I would suggest that you Follow these steps to check if it works:

Step 1: Open the Windows Settings menu by pressing the Windows Key and “I,” or alternatively search for Settings in the Windows search bar and click the corresponding result.

Step 2: Click Notifications & Actions in the left-hand menu. This will take you to a screen providing access to all of the settings related to notifications and the Action Center.

Step 3: Click the System icon, then select Notifications and actions from the left-hand menu.

Step 4: Look for the Notifications subheading, where you will see a number of toggles for various types of notifications.

The following is a list of the settings you can toggle on this screen:

**Get notifications from apps and other senders

**Show notifications on the lock screen

**Show alarms, reminders, and incoming VoIP calls on the lock screen

**Hide notifications when duplicating my screen

**Get tips, tricks, and suggestions as you use Windows

You may just turn them OFF the notification as you need.

Icon overlays in Windows 10

Hi,

There are currently 15 slots allotted for icon overlays in the system image list of Windows 10. 4 of these are reserved for the system, and OneDrive uses 5, leaving six slots for use by other icon overlay handlers. If more than 15 icon overlays are registered
in the system, the extra icon overlays aren't used. This limit of 15 overlay icons applies to Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10.
