Windows 10: Override admin restrictions?

Hi there

I bought a pretty decent laptop at a garage sale for dirt cheap because the guy said it was an old work machine that he’d lost/forgotten the password for.

Anyway, I managed to reset the admin password and log in using win4key but I still can’t run .exe files etc... I’m getting a ‘please contact your administrator’ error message, despite the fact that I’m now an admin.

Any ideas what I can do?

You can reset the Admin Password using Windows XP repair; See Here for step by step.

Uninstall problem


Open the Admin Command Prompt:

1. diskpart
2. List disk
3. select disk # where # is the disk that contains hidden partitions
4. list par
5. select partition #
6. delete partition OVERRIDE
7. repeat steps 5 & 6 for the additional hidden partitions.
8. exit

OR:
if you want to clean the whole disk, after step 3 above
Type: clean
Type: exit

 

Admin restriction

I installed a game on my son's Win10 computer. He has a user account and I have an admin account. The shortcut is in the public desktop. Everytime he clicks on the shortcut in his account its asks for the admin password. I looked under the properties/shortcut/advanced
and the "run as administrator" box is not checked.

Is there somewhere else I need to go to remove the restriction on this program?
