Windows 10: Padded Icon used instead of the unplated icon images provided for the process in the task...

We have an application that is offered in the Microsoft store. However we are encountering an issue with the icon size in the task manager and startup task list:

As mentioned in https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uwp/design/style/app-icons-and-logos, Assets are generated using the visual studios tool, and one would expect the Square44x44Logo.png image to be used. However, we find that the Square150x150Logo.scale-150.png image is used. As written in the above documentation, padding has been added to the image, so when used by the task manager, we end up with the icon looking like a tiny dot.

Try rebuilding the Windows icon cache:

• Close all explorer/folder windows that are currently open;
• Run/Open a new Console window as Administrator;
• Launch "Task Manager" using CTRL+SHIFT+ESC, or by running taskmgr.exe;
• In the Process tab, right-click on the explorer.exe process and select End Process.
• In the Command Prompt window, type the commands one by one and press ENTER after each command:
  Code: CD /d %userprofile%\AppData\Local ATTRIB -H IconCache.db DEL IconCache.db EXIT[/quote]
• Close the Console;
• In Task Manager, click File, select New Task (Run…), type explorer.exe, and click OK.
• Close the Task Manager;

 

Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.

 

How to get back default icons?

Maybe it's Windows fault and not StarDock, try rebuilding the Windows icon cache:

• Close all explorer/folder windows that are currently open;
• Launch "Task Manager" using CTRL+SHIFT+ESC, or by running taskmgr.exe;
• In the Process tab, right-click on the explorer.exe process and select End Process.
• From the File menu of "Task Manager", select New Task (Run…) and type cmd.exe, and click OK;
• In the Command Prompt window, type the commands one by one and press ENTER after each command:
