  1. Page file/scratch disk on faster non-OS drive?

Now I suspect the answer is that I will not notice any difference but I have an older 250GB 500/500 (read/write) SATA SSD as C: with Windows 10 running on it and I am getting a WD Black SN750 m.2 nvme with 1TB and approx 3000/2000 (read/write) as E:.

I'd rather not reinstall W10, but perhaps the faster drive should do more work.

Is it as good to configure the virtual memory to be on the secondary drive?

How would Windows prioritize the faster drive if I enable it on both C: and E:?

Does it work to just disable the page file on C: and enable it on E:?

    Page File

Set minimum and maximum to a constant number as suggested by others, that will help reduce fragmentation on the drive coz of different page file sizing.

    Page file on faster SSD

If it was me, I would use the new drive for OS and programs and use older one for pagefiling to minimise write cycles on new drive.

USB memory disk as a paging file for virtual memory?

    Hi,

I want to know your opinion about usb memory disk as a paging file for windows virtual memory.

I am trying to set paging file on usb memory disk, but it is looks windows don't like it and simply ignore it and create paging file on my c:\ drive. It is looks like paging file is created on usb memory disk, but when I check, there is no swap file on usb memory disk. The usb memory disk still empty.

    Anyone have experience on it?

    Regards,
    Arto.

Is it still necessary to remove non-OS disks during installation?: With Vista/7/8/8.1, having more than 1 HDD/SSD physically attached meant that the system partition(s) could potentially be on any disk. Is this still the case in 10, or has Microsoft finally fixed this bug? 35284
