Windows 10: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA after installing KB4571756

Hello,


After installing KB4571756 from a fresh install I get a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA during boot.


The crash is deterministic, it happens 100% of the time after installing that update and 0% of the time before installing that update.

Hardware wise I'm not running anything particularly special. 5 year old mobo with 5 year old nvidia graphics card, intel CPU, a blu-ray, USB webcam, USB audio, and a couple of SATA SSD drives.

FAILED install: September 8, 2020—KB4571756

I get a page fault error trying to install the KB4571756 (OS Build 19041.508) update either through Windows Update or downloading the msu file directly.

Any suggestions?
