Windows 10: pages will only download to acrobat even if i check chrome as preference. used to work fine

Discus and support pages will only download to acrobat even if i check chrome as preference. used to work fine in Windows 10 Software and Apps to solve the problem; I have been downloading documents to chrome.     pages will only download to acrobat even if i check chrome as preference. used to work fine


    I have been downloading documents to chrome. I switched over to the other setting and they come out in acrobat but NOW when I change the setting back to chrome it is still going to acrobat.Maybe someone here can take pity on me and help me.also chrome updated yesterday so i don't know if that might be a factor or coincidence.what i've described is happening now is brand new.
