Hi, I used to use Paint 3D on images to remove a cursor icon for a particular game in order to use the screenshots. It used to work great, I'd just magic select the yellow circle icon, and it would remove and fill it with the colours around it, so you couldn't tell it was ever there.

Suddenly though, I use the magic select tool and the icon gets selected just fine, but once I move it, it leaves a white space behind and no longer autofills. It's like the shape has just been cut out and there's a white dot in the middle of my image, as opposed to it being filled in to blend with the surrounding area. At best I can set the background to transparent and so the circle is transparent/grey, but that's still no good.

As far as I'm aware, I didn't change any settings, but can someone please advise how I can set it to autofill again? It's a really great tool, I just don't know what's going on with it.

They're just 2D JPGs, nothing special.

    :)

  2. Paint 3D Magic Select issue

    Hello,

    Thank you for your response.

    • This is my first time encountering this issue since I just started using Paint 3D the first time a few days ago for leisure. And, no, I don't think I have changed any of my computer's configuration. (What computer configuration exactly are you talking
about anyway?) It could be (and probably is) that Paint 3D was just made to work like this. To further elaborate on my issue: My main purpose of using magic select is to create multiple layers. For example, if I have a clip art picture of a bush in front
of tree, I want to be able to place, say, a dog partially hidden by the bush but still in front of the tree. To do this, I would have to cut the bush out of the picture using magic select, then make it 3D. I would then place the dog (also made 3D) and adjust
the (so-called) "layering" so that the dog is behind the bush. My "problem" is that when I magic select the bush and "cut" it out, it becomes displaced from its original position and slightly shrunk, showing the empty space behind it. I would then have to
spend quite a bit of time moving it back and resizing it to fit back perfectly. And so, I am simply wondering if there was a way to magic select/cut the bush out without shifting/resizing it.
    • Yes, the issue persists when I try on different photos.
    • Microsoft Windows Version 1709 (OS Build 16299. 192)

Thank you for your time. I am perfectly happy if that was just the way magic select was made to be, but I would like to know if there is a way to keep the cut object exactly in the same place.

  3. How To Save Microsoft Paint 3D Magic Select Tool Images

I'm trying to save images that have been created using Paint 3D Magic Select for use in other Microsoft programs, e.g. Publisher or PowerPoint. Print Screen and the snipping tool aren't options because I just want to save the object created by Magic Select,
not a space on the screen. I can save the object to the Paint 3D clipboard, but Publisher and PowerPoint can't access the Paint 3D clipboard. Is there any way to save the object to a file (jpg)?

How To Save Microsoft Paint 3D Magic Select Tool Images

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you were extracting the image from a photograph and wanted to lose the background before copying to another app. I get it now - you want to capture the object with a transparent background as it appears after Magic Select.
It does seem bizarre that it's not possible - even Paint (non-3D) has a "Transparent Selection" option in the Select menu.
