  1. Paint3D over written files

I was drawing on 3D paint last night and saved before I closed the app but when I went to open my previous project it wasn't there so looked for what I mistakenly thought was the recovery option titled "save" when I clicked it it opened file manger and I saw my artwork so I clicked it then hit save beside the file nameI thought I had just forgotten to save it and this would restore it like a back up function however it then pulled up a window that said "this file name of file already exists. Would you like to replace it?" I had seen this before when doing other projects and it would just update the file but when I opened it the page was blank. I realise now that I had overwritten my save and the "save" option was refering to the blank project that opens by default when one opens the app and that is why the new version underfilename is empty. But I worked very hard on it and I am very sad that my work was potentially for nothing, is there a way to restore it? I have already used RECUVR and searched my trash bin and tried the "history" option in file manager but all for nought. Please get back to me as soon as possible, a distressed artist.

    :)

Paint3D export problems and not opening files from File Explorer

    HI AD1999,

Corrupted system files is one of the possible reasons why you are having issues exporting files using Paint3D and opening files using the File Explorer on with your Windows 10 computer. We suggest that you run the System File Checker tool and
the Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool to scan and correct any issues. System File Checker (SFC) is a built-in tool in the operating system. SFC checks for system file corruption. Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM)
is a command-line tool that can be used to service a Windows image or to prepare a Windows Preinstallation Environment image.

Kindly follow the steps in this article posted by ZigZag3143 (MS-MVP) to perform SFC and DISM:

System file check (SFC) Scan and Repair System Files & DISM to fix things SFC cannot.

Should you need further assistance, don't hesitate to get back to us.

    Particular problem(s) with Paint3D.

    Hi Micheal,

You might be experiencing this problem because of corrupted files related to Paint3D or a display driver update that introduced compatibility issues. A background program or process might also be causing the app to exhibit screen flashing. To troubleshoot
this issue, we recommend that you run the
    troubleshooter for Windows Apps
. This tool finds and fixes common errors with apps on your computer.

If the issue persists, we suggest that you repair or reset the Paint3D app. This will fix any corruptions related to the app. Here's how:

    • Click Start, and click on the gear icon to open the Settings
      app.
    • Click on System, and select Apps & features in the left pane.
    • Look for the Paint3D app, select it, and click on Advanced options.
    • Click on the Repair or Reset button.

Additionally, we recommend that you download and install any pending updates that need to be installed on the computer through

    Windows Update
and check if it helps resolve the issue.

We also highly encourage you to post this issue and your experience on the
    Feedback Hub
to increase visibility and awareness. Feedback items regularly receive Microsoft responses on the submissions in the Feedback app so you can see what we are doing about your feedback. For more information about the Feedback Hub, see our
