Windows 10: Paper size always returning to "letter" after setting it to something else

I always have to change the paper size from "letter" to "A4" every time I print. First I thought this was the case for printing from every program and printer, but the pattern is not that clear. The problem exists for printing from word with Microsoft print to pdf for example and many many other combinations of programs and printers. However, I found some combinations to work, like excel and Microsoft print to pdf. This is very strange because they are both programs from Microsoft office and it is the same printer.


I change this in printing preferences -> Advanced from programs like word or Firefox and it always returns back to "letter".

From windows 10 settings devices and printers it seems to be stay in A4 but when I open word again to print, "letter" is set!

From windows 10 settings devices and printers printer properties paper available is "Letter". But that doesn't seem to affect printing from excel for example. I have not idea what to do any more.



I use Windows 10 1909 with all available updates. I use windows with langue US and regonal settings German.

How to change Microsoft PDF printer default paper size from Letter to A4?

Hi, my problem is Microsoft Print to PDF is printing a Letter-sized doc as A4. In the Microsoft Print to PDF Properties dialogue box under 'Features', the only paper size listed under 'Paper available' is A4. But if I click on 'Preferences' and then 'Advanced'
there's a list of paper sizes available that shows 'Letter' has been selected. So it seems the problem is the Paper/Output option I've selected as 'Letter' is not changing the A4 'Paper available' feature in the Microsoft Print to PDF Properties. Does anyone
know how I can change that or add a 'Letter' option to the Properties dialogue box? It's really important I get this fixed. Thanks in advance if anyone does know.

 

Setting default paper size in windows 10, is the paper size of the default printer.

no changing the default printer Edge is always using paper size A4,

But no the issue occurs if the desired printer has Letter paper size.

So in my view, the issue is: Edge (and Outlook and...) is not updating the used paper size to the paper size of the printer if the printer is changed, but keeps the paper size of the default printer. Is this a feature or a bug?

Hi,

I want to change paper size from "Letter" to "A4" to all of my printers (I use Windows 10).

I have tried to change the paper size in Setting | Printers and Scanners | Manage | Printing Preferences , but the change is not saved. When I wanna print, the default paper size goes back to "Letter".

Please advise
