Windows 10: Partitions do not appear in My computer

Hello guys.

I just installed windows 10 and made 2 partitions for my files. When I finished installing i found out that in My computer the 2 partitions that were created do not appear. I have assigned a letter for each partition. After I assigned letters the partitions appear but after a restart they no longer appear.

• What other troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

I would try giving a drive letter again. Then rather than restarting, shutdown pc completely, then switch on again.

It could be related to a fast boot issue perhaps - hard to say.

 

I have done it like 100 times already...
At every restart or shut down, the partitions dissapear from My comuter and I must add again a letter.

 

You tried different letters presumably?

There is an old thread on sevenforums and they resolved the problem by writing zeros to the disk to initialize it. Drive letter disappear after reboot - Page 2 - Windows 7 Help Forums

Sounds a bit drastic but you could try it.

 

I notice that you have nothing stored in these 2 partitions. Open Admin Command prompt and type:
diskpart
select disk 1
clean
exit
Open Disk Management, initialize it then create partitions again.

 

After several restarts and shutdowns things appear to be alright. Thanks guys for your help. Have a nice one!
