  1. Partitions on laptop

This poor thing had Windows 8 on it. Upgraded to 8.1, then to 10. As you can see, my partitions are a mess. The one labeled D: Recovery is HP recovery, Windows 8. That's definitely useless. Know WINRE and C need to stay, unsure about others. the FAT32 one appears to be bootloader? Thoughts?

  2. Laptop Partition Questions

You can add space to C from any partition, whether it's adjacent or not, by following

How to extend partition easily with Partition Wizard - video help
. If you'd add all of the Unallocated to C it would move over to the right the latest Recovery partition created by Windows 10 to store the bootable repair tools - the second one is likely
defunct after an Upgrade or version Update (The third one is your Factory Recovery partition which may or may not still run).

If you wish to do this I'd
    Create Windows 10 Installation Media
    or
Create a recovery drive - Microsoft Windows
to have for bootable repairs, in case Recovery doesn't run after moving it over. If you do this then you can even delete both 400+mb Recovery partitions. And if you don't want the bloated factory install which
    is grossly inferior to the
    Clean Install Windows 10
, or make your Factory Recovery media to have on hand, you can even delete the Factory Recovery partition. This will give you wide open Unallocated Space to extend C into, even using Disk management.

Feel free to ask back any questions to fully understand your options before proceeding.

    Laptop Partition Questions

Hello all, I am running out of space on my laptop and decided to look at the partitions on my (nonupgradable) ssd. I noticed that it has something that says 50.51 gb unallocated. What does this mean? If it is free space, how do I add it to my default partition?

We also need to see the output of:

    reagentc /info

Run it in an elevated ("Run as administrator") command prompt.

And it also depends on whether or not you want to keep the possible capability of restoring the computer back to factory condition. I say possibility because just because you leave the old factory recovery partition there does not mean that you still have the software required to restore it after the upgrade.

    Partitions on laptop

Again, it depends on what capability you want left. On your system, looks like you could go down to 1 partition to do everything. You can move your boot files from the system reserved partition to the C: drive partition. If you want recovery environment capability you can move those files to C: drive partition and point reagentc to them there. The down side is that if your C: drive partition gets messed up you are back to a square one clean install or restore from a backup image. But even if you don't move the boot files and WIndowsRE - a complete hard drive failure leaves you in the same situation.

  10. That would be my preference. As few as needed for a smooth running system.

Seriously I don't understand what you are trying to do. On GPT disk, you suppose to have 4 partitions and that's how it looks when you perform a fresh install of Windows 10.

  14. Just trying to get rid of old and unneeded stuff, minimize. Don't care how many partitions, just don't want Win 8 leftovers or manufacturer stuff
