Windows 10: Password Incorrect - Windows 10 switched me from local account

Hello,


Tl;dr version - stuck on login screen and can’t login, login went from pin/local account to microsoft account but says password incorrect, can’t tell if connectivity issue.

I am using a Dell running Windows 10


For years I’ve been signing in with a pin, switched off my laptop as I was not using it for a few weeks, it worked fine yesterday when I turned it on, I go and switch it on again and login today and it has switched from a local account where I use a pin to login to one where I enter my microsoft credentials.


The issue is, it keeps saying my password is incorrect - it 100% isn’t, but I changed it earlier and it still says incorrect, but that password works fine to login to other microsoft programs on my phone. I made sure keyboard was correct, password was correct etc.


The globe icon for connectivity has the globe and a circle next to it with a line through it, but the wifi network I click on says connected. I’m guessing that it says connected but it isn’t, and that is why my password won’t be accepted? What can I do?


Wifi works fine on my phone, tv, and work laptop.

and the globe had turned into a computer monitor and ethernet head, but then went back into a globe at the next restart.


I pressed shift when restarting to give repair options. I did try a system restore and it wouldn’t accept the password. I tried to get into command prompt and it needed a password but said it was incorrect.


I can’t login at all, password is incorrect according to it, and I have no idea why it switched from

requiring a pin.



Any help would be appreciated.


There is also no option to enter my pin, what can I do?

Local Account password changed to Online Account Password

Hi,

I suggest you to follow the steps on how to switch from Microsoft account to Local account:

• Click on search in taskbar and type account.
• Click on Accounts.
• Now, under Your account, click on Sign in with Local account instead.
• Enter your Microsoft account password for confirmation and then follow the screen instruction.
• Enter User name credentials for your the Local account and click OK.
• Now, login to Local account.

As you may already know, Windows 10 (as well as Windows 8) allow you to log in with a valid Microsoft account, instead of creating a local account that only works on your machine. However, you may prefer to keep a local account for privacy reasons. If you do, though, some Windows 10 features—like Cortana—may not work. Despite the default behavior, the Windows 10 Store is not one of them. You can still log in to your Microsoft account for just the Store without switching to a full Microsoft account. The process, however, is not terribly obvious. To do so, follow these steps:

• Launch the Store from your Start menu.
• Click the user icon next to the search box.
• Click “Sign-in” from the menu that appears.
• Choose “Microsoft account” and log in like normal.
• When the “Make it yours” box appears do not enter your password. Instead, click “Sign in to just this app instead.”

Account switch

I log in to my laptop with a pin number and run windows 10. I recently switched to a local account. But when I wanted to switch back to the MSFT account using e-mail address and password, I am asked again for a windows password (pin, regular account
password?) Result : password incorrect for this device. Even the "leave it blank" does not work. Changed password, created a new alias - nothing worked. Any suggestions how to correct this problem? It should not be so complicated just to switch accounts!!!
