Windows 10: password or not password??

hello community

I'm debating with a friend about the necessity to have a log password on PC desktop computer

I say " you don't need a log account if you're the only one to use the machine"

he say" you need always a log password in any circumstance to protect your machine "

so who is right ?

Password issue

After going through the steps to make a new password, after a week or two, my login credentials are no longer valid. I'm forced to make a new password all over again. It seems to happen if I don't login in a certain period of time. Does our passwords expire???
