Windows 10: passwords

I need a password to open the desktop on my laptop computer. I also need a different password to do the same with my desktop computer. Both computers run Windows 10 home. A couple of days ago I'd forgotten the password for the laptop, so I changed it. Then I found I couldn't sign in to hotmail/outlook or my Microsoft account on either computer. Why does this happen? And how can I stop this from happening again? I had the same problem a few months ago, but it didn't take as long to fix. I couldn't get any help from this community because I couldn't sign in to this, or to any other Microsoft help pages.

Password issue

After going through the steps to make a new password, after a week or two, my login credentials are no longer valid. I'm forced to make a new password all over again. It seems to happen if I don't login in a certain period of time. Does our passwords expire???

 

Long boot time and passwords missing

The only reason I mention the account is that a Windows update recently was causing people to be signed into a temporary account, your password manager may be installed for all users but the list of passwords would be user specific, therefore the blank password list suggests a different account. *Smile
