I am in the process of cleaning up my main drive and have discovered 197 GB of backup files with the extension .pbf

They are located in My Backups but I use Acronis for backups so I don't think it is their files. Before settling on Acronis I tried EaseUs but did not like it. Is it related to that software?

Can I safely delete these files and recover the space?

    :)

  3. Where'd the Downloads Go?

Finally! I got it figured out! This pertains to "eReader" app and ebooks, plus PDFs. I love to read. I use eReader books alot and so carried my enjoyment of them from my Treo 650 to my e71. eReader Pro software can go into either Phone or Ex. Memory. It's
"where to put the .pbd files" that get you. eReader offered several locations, all of which were wrong.

    Here's the solution to eReader:

    1. Install the application reader to either phone or ex. memory location (your choice).

    2. IF you install to the phone, you MUST install the .pbd ebook files in: Phone Memory--> Other. DO NOT use any lower sub-folder!

    3. IF you install to the chip, you MUST install the .pbd ebook files in: Ex. Memory --> data --> others. Again, DO NOT use any lower sub-folder.

Additional: PDF files on the memory chip should simply be loaded into "Books" folder. Clicking on the PDF file will activate the PDF Reader.

Hopefully, this will help those who have, or will, run into this fiasco.

    PBD file?

    Critical Process Died

I have been getting a "critical process died" error mixed in with an "unexpected store exception" since I upgraded to windows 10. The intervals between vary, sometimes my pc will go a few days without crashes,
others a only couple of minutes. Generally the second error will happen abruptly during games while the first will freeze my computer then crash. I have been trying to fix this on my own, but all of the things that I have tried have not worked. Here are all
the things that I have done.

-sfc /scannow (Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.)

    -updated all drivers

    -reinstalled windows 10

-Brought PC into Microsoft store, they found one faulty stick of RAM, all other hardware was okay

    - replaced RAM (still getting crashes)

    - ran memtest86 (no errors)

Unfortunately I do not have any DMP files either. All of the proper settings are there, (automatic restart unckecked, automatic memory dump selected, Dump file: %SystemRoot%\MEMORY.DMP) however after a crash
my computer will freeze on the blue screen and be stuck at 0% while attempting the minidump.

    Here are my system specs.

    Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

When did you last look at them? Last week? Last year? 5 years ago?

Right click > Properties > Details will tell you when they were created/modified.

If they have been stuck there for years then just delete them. You could make a backup in case you remember what they are for but you probably will not ever remember if you don't now.

I have backup disks marked with post-it notes saying "December 2008 backup" I'm too scared to delete because I don't remember what it is.

Will I ever look at them? No.
