Windows 10: pc breaks when i install a display adapter that isnt the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter

My PC has been having graphical and blue screen issues keeps showing the stop code VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE. So im trying to install another display adapter after setting the current one to the basic adapter so my pc doesnt crash in the middle of installing. However, whenever i install a driver it automatically sets it to the broken adapter and not the one i installed.I may be doing many things wrong as im not all that good with computers. I may be installing it wrong, and/or I may just be downloading be downloading the wrong amd drivers.I have a pretty old pc, the adapter it was using the one t

VGN-FS570, clean install from xp to win 10 having a problem the graphic display, only seeing microsoft basic display adapter, not getting the full screen of the display, cannot change the adapter, tried
to install adapter, not supported by your device

the problem is cannot change microsoft basic display adapter, not getting full screen on display, also seeing a yellow arrow on the adapter in device manager, was able to get full screen when using win xp. how do i fix this problem,
I have tried numerous technique without success
