  1. pc cant keep right time

I have set time over and over. every day its off by hours.
    does anyone believe me?
also where is the time server synchronize page?
came downstairs, it was recording tv thinking its 10pm and its 5pm, pc is always online with verizon fios.

Some where is a selection to choose time servers.

Notice how far off the hours are? The minutes were ok.

    :)

  2. 5800 Cant Keep Time

Automatic time updates also requires the network to support the feature.

The link I posted above for solving the time problems on the 5800 now appears to be dead, here is an alternative link:

    http://dailymobile.se/2009/04/22/symbian-app-freetimebox-v105-time-synchronization-application/

You will have to register as a user on that forum before you can download it.

I've been using the program for a few weeks now and it's prevented my 5800 from losing any noticeable amount of time. I have it set to sync via the internet (NTP) after every boot.

    Hi sdowney717

If your PC is losing time I would be checking / replacing CMOS battery.

To sync to internet time, I see my red circle on your screen print.

Check your BIOS time? That might be the culprit.

As stated, boot into Setup (Bios) on the Main Page set your time and date. Save and Exit. If after several hours or a reboot the time is not current, then change your CMOS battery.

No need to replace the battery right away. Just check the time first as replacing the battery also resets the BIOS. If there are any customized BIOS settings there they will be lost. Yeah, you can load optimized defaults, but that won't get your customized settings back.

Just check/adjust the time first and monitor. If you continue to lose time, then replace the CMOS battery.

Ok, I can replace the battery, it is quite old.
But still I thought windows would check the time more often so as this would not be noticed.

    1) Create a bootabable Ubuntu flash drive:
    Ubuntu tutorials
    2) Open the website: Time.is - exact time, any time zone
    3) By design it will display the difference between the computer's time and the real time in your location.
    4) If Ubuntu keeps accurate time then the problems lies with the Windows operating system.
    5) If Ubuntu also has problems keeping accurate time then look for a hardware problem.

It may take a clean install to fix the time if it is the Windows operating system as an in place upgrade repair failed to fix the time problem on a relatively new notebook.

If you change that battery you'll need to reset the BIOS. If not, either the system either won't boot, or won't function properly.

To "reset" the BIOS just find "Load Optimized defaults" or something very to that and enable it. Again, changing that battery is going to reset the BIOS.

    Good luck.

Sometimes there can be failure to boot after resetting the bios.
By default changing the CMOS battery is resetting the bios.

    1) So please make sure your files are backed up.
    2) Please make a backup image with Macrium:
Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free:
Macrium Software | Your Image is Everything

    3) And please create a brand new restore point.

  13. pc cant keep right time

I created a restore point and replaced cmos battery.
Old battery volt measures 2.3, new 3.3volts, so could have been the issue.
The pc recently has been turned off and was not keeping time, so I dont think the software is a problem.

Either you're not paying attention to my warning or you simply don't understand what was said. Either way a restore point has nothing to do with changing a CMOS battery and the warning still applies.

    Regardless, good luck.

    Good luck.
