  2. Laptop fan spins up to max for no obvious reason

    As stated above.

In viewing task manager I tend to see nothing obvious that could be the cause though occassionally something like below occurs.
pc crashing and all fans on max 6a15bdee-701d-419f-8596-db3d3fe52883?upload=true.png

Once the fan gets going it doesn't appear as if it will stop until I shut my laptop down fully.

Checked my fan physically and no dust.

Replaced thermal compound between cpu and heat sink.

Scanned with windows defender and malwarebytes to find nothing.

Appears to ramp up randomly. Played an intensive game without issue.

I figured it might be related to using my browser - Mozilla. Deleted all history/cookies etc, switched to edge.

Tried to eliminate as many programs to find anything to the point of resetting win10.

Not sure what to do now. Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Suggested so far…

Disconnecting from internet = no change

    Process explorer = 97-99% idle

Checking BIOS version = most up to date

Sent in support ticket - Awaiting response

Acquired SpeedFan - Unable to add any fan controller

Acquired NoteBook FanControl - Able to target fan speed in steps of 25%. Will spin up to max at any stepping other than 0%. Appears as if tilting my laptop can set the fan off to max. Currently using 0% target fan to bring it back down.

  3. Monitors lose input and Fans Max (Crash)

    GeForce RTX 4070 Ti GPU
    Intel Core i7-13700KF CPU
    DeepCool Castle 240EX Cooler
    32GB DDR5-5200MHz RAM
    Gigabyte Z790 UD MB
    LANCOOL II RGB Case
    (3x) Pure Wings 2 120mm Fans
    Thermaltake 850 Watts PSU
    M27U -- 27 inch / 4K / 160hz
    VG27 -- 27 inch / 1440p / 170hz

Somewhat at random, both of my monitors lose input and my PC fans max out. I can still hear the video I was watching or the discord call I was in when this happens. Sometimes I'm able to use keyboard shortcuts to navigate to Shut Down, but other times I need to hard reset my PC.

My first suspicion was that this was a temperature issue, but my PC is perfectly able to run Elden Ring at 4K without crashing. It can withstand a CPU burner & GPU stress test without issue.

Sometimes I can get through almost a full day without any crashes, but as soon as it happens, it is very likely to happen again soon. The crashes almost always occur within 5 minutes of launching a game or shortly after closing a game, but have also occurred when I open Chrome and start a Youtube video. If I play a game without crashes for over 5 minutes, it doesn't crash even if I play for hours afterwards.

The only other technical weirdness I've experienced is that when my PC is idle, every so often both monitors go black for a few seconds before being restored.

It's a very frustrating problem to diagnose. What can you recommend?

pc crashing and all fans on max

    all games crash!

    I suggest you run rthdribl > http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/archives/rthdribl_1_2.zip
Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
    What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?
