  1. PC crashing in games but running fine in stress tests

Hi all,Recently started suffering an increasing number of BSODs until i was then stuck on Automatic Repair loop and couldn't actually log into the PC. Have had two clean installs of Windows with a PC technician but issue just seems to keep happening. To note, this is only in games and PC has run fine across all stress tests/ diagnostic checks. The crashes at the moment aren't BSODs but black screens which goes to automatic restart. Running an RTX4070 and playing non-intensive games like NBA 2k24 and Cities Skylines. Most recent crashes pasted below in order of recency:0x3B0xC0000005, 0xFFFFF8

    :)

  2. My pc crashes whenever I load into a game or stress test my GPU

This problem randomly happened to me about 1.5 weeks ago after about a year of no problems. What happens is I load into the game and just before I can actually join I hear my fans all stop quickly and my screen goes black. About a second later my fans start up again and my computer starts up as if I had restarted it.

To solve this I have already completely redownloaded windows, checked and made sure there were no missing drivers, run multiple diagnostic tests, and today I ran stress tests on my cpu and gpu. The cpu stress test (prime95) was fine but when I ran my gpu stress test through furmark it crashed (I can see the eye thing or whatever it is rendering for like a 10th of a second before it goes black and shuts off).

I am think this is most likely a psu or a gpu issue but I wanted to see if anyone had a solution or at least something that I could try before I need a new part. I was thinking it could potentially be a ram issue? At idle my ram already has a ~50% load.

Additionally, I do not think it is a heating problem because my gpu+cpu never get above 50c.

    My pc specs:
    I7-10700k

    Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz

Msi gaming x trio 3080 ti 12 gb

    Corsair TX750M 750W 80+ Gold

Any ideas or questions would be a massive help. Thank you.

Computer Freeze during gameplay, not during stress tests

    Hello Faith,
Thanks for taking the time to look into my problem.

It happens for multiple games when the system seems to be under heavier load. I've never had a crash just in desktop mode browsing the web, watching movies etc or running other programs. Weird things is that I can't manage to get a crash even under long stress tests. Might be due to variability as you say.

I discovered yesterday that my RAM was running at 2333 Mhz instead of 3200Mhz and without XMP. I suspect that this was reset somehow when I updated the firmware for the BIOS. When I was fixing this I also discovered that I had installed the RAM incorrectly so it was running in single channel instead of dual channel. I'm going to see if this fixes something. Weird thing is that I didn't run into any issues when doing memtest for 8hours+ though. So it might be something else. I'll try anyways and if it doesn't fix the problem I'll follow your steps.

Do you think we can rule out PSU issues since stress tests didn't manage to replicate the issue? I'm also leaning against ruling out GPU issues. I mean, I don't have any artifacts and stress/performance tests doesn't show any bad performance and it doesn't cause the system to crash.

PC crashing in games but running fine in stress tests

PC shutdown when userbenchmark.exe is running GPU stress test

    Hi prakhars962

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

If you can play those games at the highest settings, then there is no physical issue with that GPU, and testing that card to extremes it is unnecessary.

The best option would be to ask this on their website, to see if they can provide any explanation of why their software is crashing your system, and if that graphics card is on the supported list for their software.
