  1. PC crashing when playing video games, no bluescreen

Hello,Recently my PC has been crashing when playing video games and it’s getting progressively worse where I cannot even open any games without a crash. There is no bluescreen, my PC stays on and everything is on except my screen goes black and resets. I’ve done a stress test on my CPU which shows nothing.I recently upgraded to a 144p monitor with g-sync about a month ago but didn’t have any issues till this week.I went to the event viewer and notice some errors involving xbox game bar. But unsure if this correlates at all. Any help would be appreciated Specs:CPU R7 5800xGPU RTX 3070PSU 750

    Bluescreen mainly when playing games

    Hi Tobias,

We're unable to view and download the dump files. When video games cause bluescreens, then we have to check the game's minimum and recommended system requirements. To help us further, we'd like to know the following information:

    • What are the names of the games causing bluescreens?
    • Could you tell what antivirus program you are using?
    • Are you using a client to launch games or they are standalone?
    • Were there any changes, recent updates, and newly installed applications on your device that may have triggered this?
    • To avoid repetition, can you provide us with all the troubleshooting steps that you've done so far?
    • Have you tried playing and using Teamspeak one at a time?

In the meantime, we recommend following the solution on this link to troubleshoot blue screen errors.
We look forward to your reply.

  3. Video games crash, application crash, bluescreens

    Hi,

six months have passed since my first issue. It's time to post it!

I build a completely new PC with modern hardware. (See MS-Info) I can use it for office without problems, I can run Cinebench for hours, Prime 95 is no problem. I can watch YouTube, but....

There are two tipes of issues:

    Both issues have in common:

They are both completely random and occure in every game on my PC. That counts for Horizon Zero Dawn, Star Wars Battlefront 2, League of Legends, Civ 5, Valorant, Hell Let Loose, even Heave Ho. The list is as endless, as my SteamLibrary is. The only requirement: It's a video game.

    First issue: "Application Crash"

The video game I'm currently running crashes without error. I can reopen it immediately without problems. It usually occures in the first 10min of the game. (Gameplay) It very rarely crashes in the menu, unless the menu has 3D rendered characters in it. Infact, I can play LOL by reopening it again and again, until I get a bluescreen. Sometimes I make it a match without a bluescreen, so you could say, I'm able to play.

    Second issue: "Bluescreen"

The PC says goodbye. The issue occures usually in the first 10min of the game (Gameplay). It very rarely crashes in the menu, unless the menu has 3D rendered characters in it. I get a lot of different bluescreen errors. Here they are:

    IRQL_not_less_or_equal

    reason for failure: ntoskrnl.exe

    Video TDR Failure

    reason for failure: nvlddmkm.sys

    Stop code: DPC_Watchdog_Violation

    Stop code: Driver_Power_State_Failure

    Stop code: Memory_Management

    Stop code: Reference_by_Pointer

    Stop code: Kernel_Security_Check_Failure

    Stop code: System_Thread_Exepction_not_handled

    What failed: dxgmms2.sys

    [Troubleshooting]

Oh boy, did I try a lot. Lets start with hardware!

    [Hardware]

I replaced part by part, praying it would be a hardware issue.

    1. First I got the motherboard ASUS TUF GAMING B650M-Plus tested at Asus, twice. They did confirm me, that it was fully operational. Then I bought the new one MSI MAG Tomahawk B650 Wifi, currently in use, same issues.
    2. Second I tried a new power supply. I send the Pure Power 11 from BeQuiet back in, got a replacement. Same issue. I bough a new on from Corsair RM1000e, same issue.
    3. Third I swapped GPU, bought a new 4070, instead of the "old" 3060TI. Same issues.
    4. Fourth I switched SSDs, used an old HDD, old SSD, nothing. So I'm back with my M.2.
    5. Fifth I got a new DDR5 RAM Kit from the same provider Kingston. No changes.
    6. I replaced every cable, Same issues.
    7. Seventh: (Not done yet, since it's very unlikely) I'm going to swapp my CPU with a new one. Same platform AM5, same model.
It's not the cooling, my PC is more than capable to cool every component. It's not the grid.

All the computer peripherals were already used without problems in different PCs and with laptops.

All the hardware is compatible. Pls check yourself.

    [Software]

PC was set up with Microsoft Support. Windows is not the issue. And I believe that. I know, sounds weird with all those bluescreens . We checked everything through eventmanager after a clean install. (I reinstalled Win11 Pro 64Bit 18 times)

Windows is on it's newest update, always will be.

I keep the Bios, the graphics driver, all AMD Chipset Drivers and the Display Drivers on their newest, I even updated my SSD driver, flashed the Bios of the "old" GPU, I tried older, more stable drivers, I did wild things, but nothing helped. I removed old drivers with DDU.

I tested the RAM with MemTest86+ and Win Memory Diagnostics Tool. (no issues)

I ran Cinebench and Prime95. (run without issues)

I'm tracking my PC with GPU-Z and eventmanager

I switched the PCI Gen to Gen.3

I deactivated AMD EXPO, so the RAM runs at 4800Mhz

I'm testing issues with "3DMark" and "Video Card Stability Test" and video games. (they fail a lot)

Here you find some useful Data to my problem:

    https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1S3GunSkEW_6d4RMlyLWwF8vcY9VKUm1Q?usp=sharing

    Regarding the Data:

The GPU-Z-Sensor_Log_3DMark has three failures logged. You can watch the Data easily by using GenericLogViewer. Thanks to TomWoB for that application!

    Failure time: ("Application Crash" only)

    1. 3:06
    2. 7:32
    3. 8:15
    [IMPORTANT]

If I deactivate my GPU through device manager, I'm fine and my PC does not have any problems at all. I can play on my AMD GPU whatever I like. It works. It's an issue regarding the GPU by Nvidia, but the GPU itself is not faulty or anything!

My guess is that the GPU and my RAM dont cooperate properly. That would make sense, since on graphic intensive games, where vram gets filled up much faster and the GPU has to offload onto the RAM, the issue occures in minutes, wherelese on not so intensive games, I can play much longer, before a crash happens. That would also explain, why it sometimes just randomly closes the application and it would explain, why I'm getting so many bluescreens regarding memory.

Please help me. I need professional supervision. I'm in contact with a lot of supports, but without many achievements other than excluding things. Thank you so much. Feel free to ask for any additional data. I will most certainly provide it, unless it's personal.

[System Information] for those who wont read the Data:

    Win 11 Pro Build 10.0.22621

    Ryzen 5 7600X

    Motherboard: MAG B650 Tomahawk Wifi

    Bios: MS-7D75 Vers. E7D75AMS.164

    DDR5 Kingston Fury 32GB 6000Mhz via EXPO

    4070

    Corsair RM1000e

    SSD P5 Plus 1TB M.2 Gen.4

    Acer VG272UV 170Hz

PC crashing when playing video games, no bluescreen

    pc has been constantly bluescreening

random bluescreens have been happening every 10-20 minutes. they vary in error codes so there is not just 1 item causing it. typically, i’ve noticed that when i am playing a game the bluescreens rarely occur as opposed to when i’m not playing game they occur very often. what fixes are suggested? i’ve done sfc tool, it said it found corrupted files and fixed them but bluescreens keep occurring.

(edit) forgot to mention that i’ve also factory reset my pc to get rid of the issue, and i still constantly get bluescreens. google and discord also crash occasionally along with the entire pc. only things that don’t crash are games
