Windows 10: Pc crashing when switching from, or to, fullscreen

Hello! I have been experiencing a very frustrating situation when trying to play a game on my pc. Every now and again, at random times, my Pc freezes and crashes when attempting to switch between windowed and fullscreen. When this happens the only way I have been able to recover from this, is to manually hold down the power button and shut off my pc. This has been happening for sometime and I would appreciate any help I can get with this. Thank you!

Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

 

Bioshock Crashes Under Fullscreen?

Try disabling Tablet PC components in Windows Features. I had a problem where the game would crash in DX10 mode fullscreen, but would work in a window. DX9 would work in fullscreen though. I was pulling my hair out, but stumbled across the above solution via google. I happened after I installed my graphics tablet BTW.

Dunno how you'd go about starting it in DX9 mode with the steam version, but if you can work it out that may give you a result too.

 

Games crashing in fullscreen mode

Hi, I have a problem with all games on my PC for a while. Every time when I try to launch games in fullscreen, they crash and won't launch. I mask the problem with windowed mode (in windowed mode there is no problem) but it's annoying and fps drops down
in windowed mode.

I tried so many things - reinstalling display drivers, reinstalling all games and steam, some minor "fixes" that I found on the web, but nothing helps.

My PC specs:

• Windows 10 x64
• NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M
• Intel Core i7-6700HQ CPU

I really don't know what to do. I will be very happy if someone can help. Thank you!
