Windows 10: PC crashing when switching users

Hi,


My PC is crashing whenever I try to switch users. Before, I got a BSOD with error irql_not_less_or_equal, but now the PC just restarts.

This issue does not happen when I boot into safe mode.


Here are the minidumps from multiple occasions: Minidumps Onedrive

The latest being "021121-10500-01.dmp".

• I've ran memory diagnostics.
• I've ran Windows Update
• Updated Nvidia graphics drivers Geforce experience
• sfc /scannow

Events in reliability monitor show the problem as "Windows stopped working" and describe it as:

"The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x000000c4 0x00000000000000f6, 0x0000000000000fd8, 0xffffc588726e2380, 0xfffff8053a44717e. A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 74fc3fe4-550f-4d1c-813d-20c35089c993."



Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cant switch users in Windows 10

  What exactly happens when you try to switch users?

  Do you receive any error message/code?
  
• 
  Did you make any changes to the computer prior to this issue?
  

I suggest you to follow the below steps to Switch users.

• 
  Press Ctrl + Alt + Del key altogether.
  
• 
  Click on Switch User.
  
• 
  Select the user with which you want to login.
  

If computer starts up with a user other than the one you want, login to that user account and switch user to the account that you need and check.

Windows 10 crashes when switching users

More often than not when I switch users on new desktop with Windows 10, the machine stalls or crashes. (No blue screen, just dark grey!).

This happens whether I log out and switch and when I just switch.

Suggestions please.

If you are willing to switch between user try the steps provided below and see if it helps.

• Press Alt+F4.
• This will open shut down window.
• Click the down arrow key and select Switch user from the list.
• Hit OK and it will show you other user account present on the PC.
