Hi, We have been having internet issues whereby the PC disconnects the internet for the entire household for about 3 to 5 minutes when turned on or when unplugging ethernet. Our current configuration of the network uses a switches and routers set up by a "Professional " organization. The modem is from ATT and the wireless function is turned off as the Araknis router and Araknis switch we have allows us to hard wire and use wireless throughout the house. We started having speed issues and our "pros" started changing things around in the configuration. It got to a point now where the probl

PC disconnects the internet for the entire household for about 3 to 5 minutes when turned on.

So, like the title says when I turn on my Windows 10 PC, it disconnects the internet flat out for everyone in my household for a short while including the PC itself. This is driving me insane and everyone else that lives with me since it DOESN'T happen all the time, and I have no clue what could be the cause of it.

There are 2 other PC's in the household that were working just fine, as in playing FF14 in the middle of a dungeon before getting disconnected this last time.

I'm connected to a router through an Ethernet / wired connection. I can post specs or updates or anything you might need to help me out!

Opposite of Paloma, disconnected other computers shouldn't be a computer issue. The router is the hub. The computer can affect the router but the router is what controls the internet to the other stuff and the router shouldn't be disconnecting the internet to all the other stuff just because of the computer.

You should try another router if you have one. But, you can try to work with what you have and reset the router or go onto it from the browser interface and check the logs, check for update, etc. Something there should say why the router is trashing the internet. However, its difficult to say if the router has a physical issue or just poor software.

Now, if, the others are not actually disconnected from the internet but instead the connection is consumed by one the computer then that's a bit different. Etc. Stuff like that can lead into other areas. I have to assume when you mean disconnected they they are actually so but you may not know what it actually is for all I know. In that case, Paloma's ideas are more correct.

Mind you, if you have eg 20Mbps connection or something then any little thing that uses the full bandwidth will cause an issue. You didn't state if you have 5Mbps or 1Gbps. There's a bunch of info that's not clear here including local network usage and if you have things that fill that too thus chocking it. So many things depend on your wording

Test and see if the behavior is repeated, if the behavior continues and perform the next procedure.

Method 4

Resetting network settings
