Windows 10: PC experiencing occasional 'fugue' states

On one of the win10 PCs I maintain I have seen a couple of very long (15min) boot times in the past month. The disturbing part is there is absolutely no indication of what is being done during this time. What I think is happening is there is either a pending update, a new download or a system check that is causing that delay, but for whatever reason win10 is not reporting on it. Even when the boot finally reached the desktop stage, it was still unresponsive for many minutes. The only thing I could do was start task manager, but it was unresponsive so I couldn't learn anything. No malware found, so are these fugue states the new normal?

Note: this was all before the 1607 update, which took forever but seems successful.

Samsung Focus won't Sync with Zune

I've occasionally experienced this problem as well. What has always worked for me (so far) is to just plug the phone into a different USB port. You may want to give that a try next time, as it's certainly a lot faster than rebooting your PC.

 

Keyboard in one account stopped working suddenly in Win 10

Further development !

On signing on to the problem account the keyboard appears not to function about 90% of the time BUT occasionally does work - only to stop working later !

However it would appear that once in a not working state and the OSK is launched the keyboard then functions even if the OSK is closed ! The only issue I can see is that holding a key down does NOT cause a repeat function, one has to repeatedly depress a
key for multiple actions.

Is anyone else experiencing this ?
