Windows 10: Pc freezes on a random solid color within a minute or so of booting.

Hey all,

I’ve been running across this issue all day and I’m not sure why. I did some very mild overclocking on my r5 2600x to try and boost my cinebench score (3.8 to 3.95 GHz). And also, right beforehand I used msi afterburner to add about 200 MHz to my brand new gtx 1660 super’s clock. The first time a booted up and logged in I was hit with a black screen, and the subsequent times completely random colors (pink, blue, green). It doesn’t freeze when windows is locked, only after I log in and after about 30 seconds to 2 minutes.

I reset everything I could think of (of course the OCs) and cleared the CMOS, but I’m still getting the error which leads me to believe it could be the GPU. I saw on some other forums that it’s likely the GPU or PSU, but I honestly have no idea. Any help would be appreciated.

If it matters, I also installed shader packs for a few games, Java, and wallpaper engine today.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X (purchased April 2019) GPU: Gigabyte Windforce GTX 1660 Super (brand new) MB: Asus ROG Strix B450-F (brand new) RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 2x8GB DDR4 3200 (brand new) PSU: Seasonic Focus Gold 750W 80+ Gold (two weeks old) Storage: Seagate constellation 3TB Hard drive (April 2019) Monitor: Asus PG279 (brand new)

Solid Color Freeze !help!

Very often my PC freezes whit a solid color, it can be:blue,red,yellow,gray,white

it deppens of background for example on google it will be white

My PC freezes whit a solid color

I cant see anything

And i cant click

if there is music in the background

it will start repeating on certain point

Often it heppends when im playing games

Can someone help?

I have been experiencing some problems since I changed my thermal paste.



When I boot up, Windows starts loading as usual although it takes a little while. Then it freezes, blue screen and restart. then it boots ok.



BUT sometimes it boot ok but freezes randomly for...30sec every minute or 2 like it is doing now.

So far I checked cables and that there is not too much paste. Removed a RAM chip from the PC too.

pls help

 

Random freezes or shut downs

Completely random freezing/shutdowns on a system with no recent hardware changes, and hard drive, memory, and PSU fine, usually means a software issue (file corruption or malicious software). I suggest following DavidV's recommendations.
