Windows 10: PC freezes seconds after logging in

Right after the desktop pops up I am able to click around for about 3 seconds and then it freezes. In safe mode I tried disabling everything on task manager under the start up programs tab, I tried turning off all services non-windows related on system config, I updated my bios, updated GPU drivers. I created a new user which seems to work fine but obviously I want to go back to using my old account.

I do not recall downloading anything and I am not aware of anything updating aside from what I have done since this issue started.

How can I narrow down what is causing the issue?

Windows 10 freezing at log in

A failed update or one-time startup process can sometimes cause stopping, freezing, or reboot-loop issues during the login process. To isolate the issue, we suggest that you answer the following questions:

• Do you have a USB device attached? If yes, can you remove the device and log in again.
  
• Have you tried turning off the WiFi feature in your laptop before logging in?
  
• How about running a Startup Repair in your Windows 10 laptop? (Boot to Advanced Startup Options>Click on Troubleshoot> Click on Advanced options> Click on Startup Repair)
• Aside from the above steps, what other troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

Desktop freeze after log in

Hi Keith,

In order for us to find out what causes your desktop to freeze after logging in, we would like to gather more information:

• Did you make any recent changes on your computer prior to this issue?
• What other troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?
• When the computer freezes, do you get an error message?

PC Freezes for 1-2 seconds when launching certain programs

The PC would freeze for a few seconds when I open certain programs the first time after waking the PC from sleep. It would not freeze if I open the program again after the first time, until I sleep the PC again. Programs that would freeze are e.g. MPC, Potplayer, etc.

System specs in profile

Tried:
-Clean Windows 10 install, twice
-Newest drivers
-New Monitor, New TV
