Windows 10: PC FREEZES when waking up from sleep and loses ethernet conntection at the same time

ok so i bought my cyberpower pre bulit last june

ryzen 7 2700x

nvidia 2070 rtx

220gb ssd

2 tb hdd

asus b450

So far the past day now my computer as been freezing when i wake it up from sleep. i can intallity start up no problem and be on it for hours. but the second i put it to sleep and try to wake it up boom it freezes and the only way to get it back up is a hard reset holding down the power switch. And its weird to when i wake it up my ethernet status shows a symbol that i describle as gobal with another circle with a cross threw it i think its called a gobal interent symbol and then it shows that it connceted but that when it freezes. also when i try to restart my pc threw the start menu it does restart it just gets stuck and then i also have to hard reset it as well plz if someone could me. i have tried changing some power options and few power cmds trying to reset networks but nothing has worked for me

I suggest you to check which devices are configured to wake up the computer from sleep by following the steps below:

• Right click on Start icon and select Command Prompt (Admin).
• Type the command line below:

Powercfg /devicequery wake_armed

3. Check if the devices (Keyboard, Mouse, Ethernet cable) are listed.

If the system is not going to sleep and going to Hybernate, the only option to wake up is to press the Power button.

Troubleshooting PCs spontaneously waking from sleep

I've also battled with sleep/wake issues over the years, and from experience have learned that trying to find, or rationalise, the root cause is a waste of time. All you need is `powercfg`.

`powercfg -devicequery wake_armed` from an Administrator PowerShell window/Command Prompt will give you a list of all devices that can possibly wake the PC. This command is interesting because very often, it will show devices that you'd never expect being able to wake your computer. I think in one instance I had the chipset device listed!

`powercfg -devicedisablewake "device_name_from_device_query"`will prevent said device from ever waking the computer. This command is 100% the only thing I have found that will resolve sleep/wake problems. Updating drivers, unplugging peripherals, switching to a cleaner power supply (UPS), changing ethernet cables... none of those have helped, yet`powercfg -devicedisablewake` has done the trick.

Note that occasionally, devices you have disabled wake for may start waking up the PC again - this happens if you plug a USB device into a different port, or occasionally when drivers are updated, because Windows sees it as a new device. In that case rerun `powercfg` to find and disable that device again.

If this does not resolve your wake issues, I would start looking at power fluctuations.

 

Lose Internet Connection after PC Sleeps

I have a DELL XPS Desktop running Windows 10.

Since the Windows updates KB3199986 and KB3197954 on 10/28/2016, every time my PC goes to "sleep" when I wake it up I have the yellow caution sign on my ethernet icon and I am unable to connect to the internet. I have the newest FIOS BHR-4/G1100 router,
which is working fine. It does NOT lose its connection to the network. The WiFi also stays on.

The error message I get is that there is no TCP/IP Configuration. I click on change adapter settings for the ethernet adapter, step through (don't change anything) the TCP/IP configuration windows (DHCP, DNS, WINS) and then
it comes back.

Its as if the local DHCP is not working or I am losing my network configuration and when the PC wakes it cannot reconfigure.

I have updated power settings NOT to turn off the ethernet adapter when it goes to sleep.

As long as I am working my connection is fine. The minute the PC goes to sleep it is gone. Verizon claims not their problem. I'm not sure what to do next.
