Windows 10: Pc hanging when opening a 10gb+ folder

Last year I moved many photos I have taken from my phone to my pc as it's more than 10gb. My PC was able to load the folder that time, there was no problem at all.. Now I can't open it. Whenever I try to open my RAM usage peaks to 99. I cleared all my games and there is plenty of storage in my drive..

Spec

4gb DDR4 (but 2gb is reserved for igpu)

I3 8100

HDD

Lastt time I was able to open it..I think it slowed after updating to 20H2. please help

Documents/Pictures folders under 'This PC' refer to onedrive - not the local folders

Since the only folder that has incorrect file path is the Documents folder under This PC, we would suggest you do the same steps provided above. However, do it in your Documents folder under This PC. To do so, kindly follow the steps below:

• Open File Explorer
• Click This PC
• Right-click on Documents
• Click Properties
• Click Location
• Click Restore Default
• Click Apply
• Click OK

I would suggest you to follow the steps and check if it help.

  Open file explorer, click on view and select options.

  Double-click on options, in the general tab click on Open each folder in the same Window.

Opening a Folder in VC++

I've recently started learning VC++ and it's coming along quite nicley, I've now been given a little task by my boss to add a button to an excisting Incident report program.

All the button needs to do is open a new explorer window and open the folder selected in the incident report program. There isn't a deadline for it, it's just to assist in my learning.

I'm not asking for anyone to do it for me, i just need a few suggestions on how to do this so i'm looking in the correct direction?
