  2. PC has 1TB HDD and 256gb SSD. Would it be better to Install windows on the SSD?

    HP ENVY- All-in-one 32-a10xxx

    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10400 CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHz

RAM 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)

    HDD 1 TB

    SSD 256 GB or 512GB can't remember

I just tried my first attempt at a "Clean install" of Windows 11 after not being able to get my recovery key for bitlocker. I used a bootable USB I made from windows creation tool with an old laptop I have. I decided this was the only way to get this PC back online and was okay wiping everything and starting fresh. Both Drives were locked with bit locker -Drive letter C: and D:

After many days of trying to free up space on my laptop to make the bootable USB I finally got it made! I was excited to see if it would work and to my surprise the Bootable USB launched the windows installer seamless on the PC needing the fresh install. Since, bitlocker was active I deleted both drives and all partitions so that there was just the 2 disks showing unallocated space. I chose the larger one(1 TB ) HDD and clicked next....Windows did its thing and all went well ( Besides having to connect to Network during set up becaue Wifi was not working) I finish install and set up and everything looks good Windows did a couple updates, couple restarts and then zi wanted to look around settings and stuff. I immediately noticed that under "This PC" my SSD was not Visible. So I investigated using CMD and diskpart and confirmed it was visible by typing list disk. disk 0 was c: drive and disk 1 was the SSD no partitions found. Went back to Desk top navigated System>Storage>disks & volumes and was able to see the SSD there as unallocated space. I clicked around and realized it probably wasn't formatted and I could have clicked on the option to create simple volume so it would be available. I just left it alone and powered down and went to sleep shortly afterwords. Today after powering on. SSD is not visible in the storage settings or even when typing list disk via diskpart. Where did it go?

I provide all this information as context and to explain what I have done and why I even need help in the first place. I went to bed last night wondering if I should have installed the OS on the SSD for better performance and use the HDD as a data drive? I figured I would just do another clean install if I wanted to use the SSD instead of the HDD. But first I need to know what would be best/ efficient. Also, what happened to the SSD? Why is it gone?

Also, for more context. I only had this PC for 23 days before BitLocker was activated. I think my cat was laying on the keyboard and tried logging into the computer too many times lol or some kind of update triggered it. We woke up one morning and the blue BitLocker screen was there. My son used this computer a few times just playing some games. This PC was given to me by my mother, and I never got around to changing over to my login credentials. So, I don't even know how this computer was originally set up out of the box. Sadly, my mother passed away 23 days after giving me this computer and that's why I couldn't recover the BitLocker key from the Microsoft acct.

Thank you in advance for any help or suggestions!

If we store our programs in C: (SSD ) will it be faster when it's stored in D: (HDD) ?

    Hi there! This is LOKESH,

    My laptop configuration is 256GB SSD (C: drive) and 1TB HDD (D: or E: ), Intel i5 11th gen.

*My query is if I install my programs in C: (i.e SSD) will it be faster than when it is stored in HDD like D:?

*If I use 90% of C: will it reduce the performance of OS? and if I left more space in C: will my OS perform well?

*Can you give your suggestion that where should I install my programs ( SSD or HDD) but my SSD space is low (256GB)!

I'm Using Unreal Engine 5, It was Installed on HDD instead of my SSD

I'm Using Unreal Engine 5, It was Installed on HDD instead of my SSD (Since I have a 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD), However it seemed to be using the SSD instead of HDD as it's primary Drive. Recently it has been using the HDD and therefore crashing. Not sure what to do to make it run on SSD once more
