Windows 10: PC Internal HDD randomly restarts.

So I have been having this problem for the past few months. My HDD just randomly restarts. I know when it restarts due to the high pitched spin-up sound heard when I turn on my PC.

This happens both on my Windows 10 Pro and Fedora 28 Workstation. On Linux it is not a big problem as only the program gets stuck temporarily for 4secs or so. On Windows 10 it sometimes gets stuck and sometimes gives the following BSOD’s:

1. UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXEPTION
2. CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED
3. SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXEPTION

My PC specs:

Intel DH55TC Mobo. (6 Years Old)

Zebronics Gold Plus 500W PSU (2 Years Old)

Intel i3 540 @ 3.07GHz (6 Years Old)

Nvidia Geforce 210 (6 Years Old)

2 Sticks of DDR3 Each 2GB (Total 4GB) (6 Years Old)

Seagate Barracuda 1TB. (1 Year 5 Months Old)

Windows 10 Pro 1803/Fedora Linux 28 Workstation.



All my S.M.A.R.T values are OK says the Crystal Disk Info, BIOS and Speccy. The HDD idle temp is near 40C.

I’ve tried:-

Running checkdisk with the parameters /scan /f /r on all partitions.

Performing a “Full Fix” using SeaTools.

Reinstalled Windows.

  HDD
  and
  turn on
  your
  PC.
  
• 
  Reconnect
  your
  HDD
  and
  restart
  your
  PC.
  

If the issue persists, we suggest that you contact your
laptop/computer's manufacturer
for further assistance.
