Windows 10: Pc is crashing after launching games

So I’ve been struggling to launch or play any games for a while now. The temps on my PC were crazy so I replaced the thermal paste and now performance is much better in everything except games. I just can’t launch them without my entire pc crashing or shutting down suddenly. I’ve tried resetting my pc completely, changing settings, replacing apps and trying new ones and nothing seems to be working. Well, it seemed to be working right after I changed my thermal paste until I changed some graphics settings in my game and now it just crashes everything. No clue how to revert these settings since

Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?
