Windows 10: PC is freezing, peripherals disconnect and monitors freeze, no luck fixing it

I have been running the system for a year with no issues, A week ago whilst I am playing games it will cause the freeze, I have left it for 30 minutes and it was not resolved this freeze can occur on launch of the game or anytime after. It will always freeze within 30 minutes of playing I have tested several different less intensive games and I have had the same problem. I use the software "Fan Control" to alter my fan profiles and monitor the temperatures the GPU temp does not rise above 80C under heavy load and sits around 70. The CPU averages around 60C. Windows 10 Freezing - How to Fix?

Joe, thanks for the reply. Reliability Monitor doesn't seem to report anything special unfortunately. I believe DxDiag shows the correct version of my Nvidia drivers (27.21.14.6140 vs 461.40 in GFE and Nvidia Control Panel). I also see "No problems found" under the Notes section on each tab in DxDiag. My Win10 USB was created using Microsoft's Media Creation Tool from a different PC. I will try using a single monitor and see if that helps. If you can think of any other troubleshooting steps please let me know!

Namitakrs, again thanks for the reply. I have tried most of the steps you listed, excluding the WINSOCK command and disabling Link State Power Management. I added these steps to the list of things I have tried but unfortunately I had another freeze yesterday evening and again Event Viewer/Reliability Monitor offered no useful information. I could open programs from CMD but could not get anything to open from the taskbar or Start menu. If you can think of anything else to try please let me know.

 

PC freezing with usb disconnect and reconnect sound

Recently my pc has been freezing and stuttering along with the usb disconnect and reconnect sound. I checked my display settings and noticed that a ghost monitor connects to the pc with a lower resolution. I also checked device manager and saw that whenever this problem occurs, a device called Generic non PnP monitor pops up on the monitors lists. This problem does not occur in safe mode. I have already fully reset my pc but the problem still persists. Is this a sign of a GPU failure?

 

Borderlands freezes and thaws

I'm positive the steps I took above fixed it. I went through 10 rounds in the underdome (well over an hour of gameplay) without a single freeze. Previously, I couldn't play 15 minutes without at least one freeze.
